Why does everyone hate the Source Engine?

It's because nobody has been able to fully implement anything new to it. Mesh based + LOD culling has been dominating as of late in the gaming industry. Also fuck me if i ever needed to make an outdoor map in Source and not make it feel like cordoned off "outdoor rooms".

>also we'll probably not see a Source 2 SDK any time soon

Source games have a look and feel to them that can't be replicated by any other engine, so they will always have a place in my heart, no matter how clunky the engine is.

They're on SteamDB right now. They're even called the workshop tools. They were just added recently. Shut the fuck up.

It's fucking awful to work with because it's an engine from 2004, and in order to actually get something that looks good you have to go through a bunch of bullshit to do it
