Nomura had full control of the project since 2006 and didn’t develop a story until about 2008. The full character designs and whatnot weren’t done until 2010. In 2012 it was reported by IGN that Nomura requested Versus become a musical. Like what the fuck, how do you mismanage that poorly
I think 7R only turned out well because of Kitase and Toriyama
This. It's obvious what was made by Nomura and most of it is shit. Becks, the Mayor, fucking whispers.

I wish people would stop liking bad games so the industry stops making bad games to please shitty consumers.

Every single thing you have ever enjoy is considered bad by someone out there. Every single thing big and small, take for example the simple act of you breathing. I find that very bad.

Nomura's a perpetual chuuni autist that got away with his shit through KH, a series carried by Disney properties.

More like their obsession in making the game photo realistic is what fucked up the development. But I get it. You have to market the game to normies somehow and the easiest way is to make the game look as familiar as possible to them. Shame that it came at the cost of making a good game.

what you're ignoring is that every other major squeenix project at the time was an unmitigated disaster and they had to keep pulling his staff to help fix those. the reason why versus progressed so slowly is because nomura had zero consistency in terms of staff or resources to count on. even something as basic as the engine wasn't consistent - the project started on crystal tools, but then square started pushing everyone over to luminous instead. versus was a victim of square's awful kneejerk style of management. it's the same chaotic environment that led to nomura finding out he was directing 7r through the media. doesn't anyone find it odd that square keeps running into financial problems every few years despite having two cash cows in final fantasy and kingdom hearts?
