You know I’ve been reading about the development of XV and I think Barry was right. Nomura does seem to be incompetent on his own and did legitimately fuck up the project

Still sold more than 7R fags

>9 million after almost 3 years
>4 million after a week
I mean sure, for now.

But the development for XV just shows how incompetent SE has gotten over the years. A game likw that should have taken 3 years at mosy not fucking 10

It shows how incompetent Nomura was yeah
Tabata did save it though

shut the fuck up xvfag

Nomura had a hand on the blame for chaging shit every 5 minutes but Tabata could have done a better job

I’m not even a XVfag, I just recognize that Nomura ruined what could have been a masterpiece.

Nomura's a fuckup who will ruin anything he has full control over, but Tabata remains a pathetic yes man who has never made a good game
Just kill off FF already.

you're either barry or impersonating barry, both of which are sad

i'd love to hear your explanation for that when all tabata did was ruin the ideas that nomura had already made for him.

Nomura had full control of the project since 2006 and didn’t develop a story until about 2008. The full character designs and whatnot weren’t done until 2010. In 2012 it was reported by IGN that Nomura requested Versus become a musical. Like what the fuck, how do you mismanage that poorly

I think 7R only turned out well because of Kitase and Toriyama

Who the fuck is Barry?

I wish people liked games.

This. It's obvious what was made by Nomura and most of it is shit. Becks, the Mayor, fucking whispers.

I wish people would stop liking bad games so the industry stops making bad games to please shitty consumers.

Haha nah barry, suck my dick nigga.

Every single thing you have ever enjoy is considered bad by someone out there. Every single thing big and small, take for example the simple act of you breathing. I find that very bad.

Nomura's a perpetual chuuni autist that got away with his shit through KH, a series carried by Disney properties.

More like their obsession in making the game photo realistic is what fucked up the development.
But I get it. You have to market the game to normies somehow and the easiest way is to make the game look as familiar as possible to them. Shame that it came at the cost of making a good game.

what you're ignoring is that every other major squeenix project at the time was an unmitigated disaster and they had to keep pulling his staff to help fix those. the reason why versus progressed so slowly is because nomura had zero consistency in terms of staff or resources to count on. even something as basic as the engine wasn't consistent - the project started on crystal tools, but then square started pushing everyone over to luminous instead.
versus was a victim of square's awful kneejerk style of management. it's the same chaotic environment that led to nomura finding out he was directing 7r through the media. doesn't anyone find it odd that square keeps running into financial problems every few years despite having two cash cows in final fantasy and kingdom hearts?

So basically Kinase and Toriyama meep Nomira in check?

no, nomura keeps them in check. without nomura around to carry them, you get a waifu fanfiction trilogy and tidus blowing himself up with a blitzball.

Thats pretty awful

I thought Barry was a Nomurafag that wanted Versus 13

Square countered that, Square said that the Versus team only helped XIII in their spare time. Unless you’re calling them liars.

>I think 7R only turned out well because of Kitase and Toriyama
>7R
>turned out well
Neck yourself

>Shit combat
>Shit Story
>Good music
>Shit characters
>No waifu companions
>Shit multiplayer
>Shit Dlc

There is nothing to discuss about this game.
Only barry is spamming this shit

what else are they going to say? "yes, we're incompetent buffoons who couldn't manage a lemonade stand, let alone a AAA video game company"?
it also wasn't just xiii. xiv 1.0 was a huge disaster that almost bankrupted the company and needed all hands on deck to fix.

Don’t be a dipshit contrarian

XIV they definitely pulled from Versus to fix. But XIII was not an all hands on deck solution

Nomura, Nojima, Kitase, Toriyama... The whole lot of them are worthless hacks. It's no coincidence that everything they've worked on in the last decade or so has been utter garbage, whereas Squenix's only decent games (FFXII and FFXIV) had nothing to do with them.

yes it was. crystal tools was a fucking mess and they obviously prioritized the main game over the spinoffs. notice how agito xiii went through development hell at the same time and almost got cancelled entirely.

7R sold on the back of nostalgiafags and fujoshits. The game itself is nothing special and the plot has been ruined by Nomura's wacky wild.

There is a general consensus though. There are things that are commonly agreed upon to be bad.

The general consensus is a well received game.

Nothing in interviews or exposes or anything says XIII was development hell. It actually points to a fairly coherent development.
Point to a game that compares to it nowadays

Play the game

>Nothing in interviews or exposes or anything says XIII was development hell.
xiii started development in 2004 and didn't get released until 2010. along the way, it changed platforms, changed engines and got delayed multiple times. the final product was a literal hallway with no towns and no side content, it looked nothing like the trailers. it didn't even move past the concept stage until they made the advent children demo, which was several years into development. everything about xiii screams "development hell."

Toriyama himself said the decision to omit towns was early in development because of the story. We can argue about a lack of side content but the general concept of the game is very close to what it began as

no, toriyama's excuse for not having towns was that they were "too hard to render in 3D." in other words, crystal tools was a fucking mess to work with and they had to release a game eventually.
