Meleefags just want to be taken seriously for obsessively playing their old gamecube party game.
if you're a compfag yeah but that's a great way to make it not fun

mechanically no
politically, it can be

oh no a kermit post!
This.
>NOOOOOOOO THINK OF THE SAKURINO
why are ultifags like this? developers and companies are not your friends
>so disrespectful to Sakurai and Nintendo
This is fucking embarrassing. Literally ONLY Nintendorks care about "disrespect" toward a huge 100 billion dollar corporation and their God figure they creepily obsess over.
>1 viable character
Yes darn that 1 character
>Jigglypuff
>Fox
>Fox
>Fox
>Fox
> That cropping to remove Fox from the top players
Every competitive melee player that isn't already using fox has to basically focus all his strategy and effort on countering him
they all play fox to counter puff.
either there are 2 ""viable characters"" or 8
marth and peach shit on fox in the matchup lmao
And Falco before that, and Marth before that, and Sheik before that... and this is ignoring top level singularities like Peach and puff. The cast is too small to sleep on any character that is actually played. Don't know the Falcon matchup? Enjoy not getting out of combos and having Falcon live entirely too long. Don't know ICs? Whelp
>peach
She wins on DL and FD, but to say she "shits" on Fox is just a lie.
Not really, obviously it's an important matchup but most characters, even low tiers kind of get to just do their shit against Fox. Fox doesn't really do anything other characters can't, he's just generally the best at it so if you play good Melee you can fight Fox.
Puff is the real meta-warper. If you don't dedicate serious study and effort to specifically that matchup you just lose instantly, and even then Fox is the only character in the game with a real matchup advantage against her, and even then that's only predicated on upthrow+upair and upsmash that can both be played around to some degree by just playing good melee. Puff you have to be playing The Puff Matchup 100% if you want any hope.
god i miss shield dropping so much in ultimate, platforms in that game feel so sticky
This. Back when I went to tournaments, I mained Falco and I couldn't stand having to play a Peach, Puff or IC. Anyone who complains solely about Fox has clearly not played the game competitively for very long or does not play at all.
Fox is the most fun character to fight because he is the easiest to combo
Roy is by far the easiest character to combo in the game. Everything just works on him.
we're on Yas Forums, what do you expect. the "people" you're arguing against are ultizoomers that play casually
Ever play a good Luigi? What a wack character.
You say that but you don't want it. Shielddrop is broken and the only thing that stopped it from being abused in s4 was the lack of shieldstun making it useless in most situations.
You put shielddrop in ultimate and pressuring people on platforms not gonna be a thing anymore.
But i do agree platforms are way to sticky for my liking too.
Thanks for reminding me about one of the worst posts on Yas Forums.
Surely you don't think all those replies are like in agreement
Maybe that's true, I haven't fought many roys. Fighting fast fallers is fun because you can set up tech traps more easily for big damage
Yes. Tech-chasing and resets is something Melee does uniquely well in the series. There is a great balance to being in disadvantage still but not making it free. On a similar note, dodges in general are that way. Rolls aren't worthless and spotdodges certainly aren't, but they are easily punishable.
>Watching people panic roll when back to ledge in Ultimate at top level because it's basically unpunishable
First habit that's beat out of you in Melee
It's as complex as you want to make it. It has a skill floor in the basement down with the dinosaur bones and a skill ceiling in orbit. It can be played both absolute casually or absolute tryhard.
This is what Sakurai still doesn't seem to ever understand. A stratospheric skill ceiling doesn't raise your skill floor. Your five year old can pick up Melee and have fun, or a thirty year old neckbeard can reverse funcancel cheatdash around the stage having fun too. Is it going to be fun for a worse player to play a better player and get wrecked? No, but that's inevitable in any game unless it's literally just a spinner and whoever the spinner lands on wins. I can utterly buttfuck someone in Ultimate just as much as I can in Melee, it's just more simple when I do it in Ultimate and it's less fun to play against someone of even skill level because you can't do as much cool fun stuff.
The Smash series will continue to live in Melee's mechanical shadow as long as Sakurai lives under the illusion that having many levels to execution somehow makes the game inaccessible to casual players. Melee was an incredibly popular game and the majority of people who ever played it have no idea what an L-cancel is.
It is so satisfying to throw someone onto a side platform and then waveland to grab them. Then throw them onto the top platform and tech chase them again either into a strong move or another grab which can lead to to either a kill confirm or a di mixup or a down throw to another tech chase. The possibilities seem almost endless
