I hope they fix this in Hollow Knight 2

I have never been able to express this properly, thank you user.

Super Metroid manual didn't teach you to wall jump, and you could accidentally save in an area you can't exit without it. All you had to go by was observing little wall jumping critters in game.

I absolutely love the salt-waves this game recently somehow developed here, this board is a fucking casual-infested joke.

wow it forgot one mechanic in its 35 page detailed manual. that completely invalidates the point I guess.

It absolutely 100% does because SM wall jumping is a great parallel to HK pogo.
Get smoked.

I think you're being dishonest with that statement

Hollow knight wasn't designed for complex combat at all and that's not a bad decision. The fun of combat in Hollow Knight comes from enemies, not yourself. There are many bosses which require you to actually learn their patterns and kill them with whatever little you have. The simplicity itself certainly isn't a bad thing. You can also mix and match charms for fairly different playstyles.

However, I do have to admit that the starting combat of Hollow Knight is super boring. It really depends on where you got in the game for your statement to be true. If you reach the dreamer bosses, you should be able to see the fun of combat, but if you don't like the exploration aspect of the game, don't bother with getting there.

Yes, it does.
