I understand maybe having shit get weaker over time that you later maybe have to fix/upgrade. But the breaking/gathering was annoying.

That’s the “pausing” I’m talking about, it’s annoying and not as fun than not having to.

They could tie it to all actions like in a albw but i don't know how annoying that would get with weapons duration and stamnia being tied together

you can always tell who only watched people play through the great plateau area by the complaints

No it wasn't. It enhanced and enforced the SURVIVAL aspect of the adventure, kept the power creep at bay for a decent amount of time, plus allowed the game to both provide the player with practical rewards for achievements AND encourage experimentation with different weapons, tools and tactics.

Yeah I started the game with the Heros Shield and 8bit Sword which fell off early so I ended up having most of my inventory dedicated to spears to chuck at enemies before I approached while also relying on stealth until I grabbed a decent sword and a couple of good . Having tools that don't break also severely reduced the tedium of collecting resources and when I eventually grabbed the master sword I didn't have to end up using it as my pickaxe.
