BotW 2

Will they remove the abomination that is limited durability weapons?
Does anyone else think it will actually be a prequel to BotW where the game ends with Link frozen in time?
Also, will it be the best game ever made?

>abomination that is limited durability weapons
abloo abloo i cant use the same overpowered weapon for the whole game i have to change my playstyle oh nooo :(

You've got to be the worlds biggest brainlet if you didn't understand the weapons system. Stop acting like this some kind of antique roadshow simulator and use the damn weapons.

>limited durability weapons
I hope not. They were a literal work of genius, that improved the game massively.

Durability is fine but they need to have a blacksmith that I can repair stuff at. Also a shield designed for surfing that has longer durability would be nice.

>Will they remove the abomination that is limited durability weapons?
I hope so. Pausing the combat every enemy death because your weapon broke was really annoying and dissuaded me from combat. Dark Souls 2’s durability was unironically better.

>Durability is fine but they need to have a blacksmith that I can repair stuff at.
Why? That would practically eliminate the whole point of the game.

>Also a shield designed for surfing that has longer durability would be nice.
Assuming you're not using a literal pot lid and surf on a rocky road, I've never managed to break shields while surfing. Snow especially causes practically no damage.

You Souls-fags are pathetic.

>Will they remove the abomination that is limited durability weapons?
I don't know about completely removing it but they'll definitely tune it down big time because it got such a massive backlash, like 95% of people complained about this.
>Does anyone else think it will actually be a prequel
Maybe.
>will it be the best game ever made?
Without a question, especially now that it doesn't awkwardly fall in-between two console generations.

There's nothing inherently wrong with the durability system, I think the major issues were

1. the durability of stuff felt too low. What kind of sword breaks after like 8 swings? It means that if you're gonna go fight a strong enemy, you have to also go collect a bunch of weapons because you're gonna break a half dozen over that thing's head.
2. Your inventory of weapons is pretty small, and expanding it means doing a very boring scavenger hunt for korok seeds.
3. Enemies vary greatly in strength, causing players to have a "I better hold on to these" mentality with strong weapons, often resulting in them never being used.

>the worst souls game has a better durability system
Shit just breaks then can be repaired like this you dumb dopey cunt. If the durability system was “””””so fun””””” they’d plug that into the armor, too. OoT wouldn’t have been improved having to navigate the menu each time an enemy died.

how is hitting "attack" at different times a new playstyle?

Just up it by about 300%. I like using different weapons but I don't want to have to pause the game and switch fucking 3 times per fight.

also: let me craft arrows you fucks. You let me collect all kinds of rocks, feathers, wood, whateverparts, but nope.

>Will they remove the abomination that is limited durability weapons?
Never, hoardeing minmaxers need to get over it.
They need to find a use for excess material that have no use other than being rupee fodder.

no way it's a prequel, the last game already "lived in the past" so much, just reliving that bit would be too much of a retread even if we're missing so many details

Durability was poorly recieved (because it's a trash system) so it's likely gone.

>. I like using different weapons but I don't want to have to pause the game and switch fucking 3 times per fight.
You must REALLY suck ass at this game if you need 3+ weapons to deal with any encounters.
In fact, what the fuck are you doing fighting all the time anyways?

I recently started playing BotW again on CEMU. the only thing I did was eliminate weapon durability and then set it to master mode. It feels perfect. Enemies are strong and can kill me quickly if I play like shit, but I don't break 2-3 weapons per mob.

also I can ignore Korok seeds because I dont need more slots. a one handed weapon, a 2 handed, and the tools like AXE, Hammer, and leaf and Im good to go.

It does make a lot of secrets and exploring a ,lot more trivial since I dont need to constantly look for weapons, but the trade off was worth it.

I did the same and actually don't agree with the rewards being trivial, there's still a lot of give and take with weapon stats and abilities so weapons still get replaced often, it's just preference based instead of necessity based, and the game is way better off for it.

Not my fault the blacksmiths of Hyrule consider paper mache the hardest metal.

Two things are going to be out: weapon durability and slippery rainy weather climbing.

It's your fault for apparently ramboing like a headless chicken, and not utilizing the plethora of tools, tactics and systems the game offers you in order to deal with enemies quick and clean.
Better yet: learn to stealth.

>Hating weapon durability
Instant outing yourself as a norm.

So in other words you didn't fight any enemies at all? Wow you're really selling me on this weapon durability mechanic.

It’s been over a FRIGGIN year! When the heck are we getting news on this game?

Do I have to wait until June???

I thought this shit was getting released this year, someting went horribly wrong it seems.

Slippery climbing should just be lessened, not completely removed.

>So in other words you didn't fight any enemies at all?
Nigga I borderline butchered everything I came across. I spent the first 30 hours of the game lurking in the Gerudo Valley's mountains, with 3 hearts and rookie equipment.
Anything could 1-shot me, yet I kept taking down Hinoxes, Lizalfos and whatnot.

You clearly just aren't even aware of all the fancy, non-direct engagement methods the game offers you, and thus bitch about a brilliant mechanic.

>disliking BotW’s durability means you hate durability

>almost been a year
my bad

I do see what you mean. I spent the early hours searching for a good couple of weapons. I got a good claymore, a 1 handed Katana, a Garudo Shield, one of those bows that zooms in and some "tools". I think it's a way better way to play. And Since I'm on master mode I'm approaching combat less gun how since enemies come in larger groups and are harder. So I'm USING the physics to ambush them not just because it's fun but because it's a safer approach.

Getting rid of durability completely changed the way I approached the game, and mostly for the better.

This is such a goddamn strawman.
Fucking christ.

>Nigga I borderline butchered everything I came across.
Me too, it was alright. Would’ve been a lot more fun and seamless and enjoyable if I didn’t have to pause every few enemies, though.

One of the core motifs of this series is a cool overpowered weapon in every game.

I mean, the virus definitely may have been a factor.

They should bring it back but introduce a magic system that lets you play around with it.

>Weapon becomes indestructible but deals less damage
>Weapon breaks in one use but creates a massive explosion when thrown

Stuff like that.

>preferance over necessity
I agree whole heartedly - but really, I wouldn’t mind a best of both worlds. I love the armor collecting and upgrading, BotW would be perfect if they did that to a lot more weapons while also having the selection of breakable weapons.

>You're going to start with the master sword in botw2. Nice!

I don't think durability would be an issue anymore. Maybe we could get some permanent weapons from mini dungeons and side quest. Like getting a two handed hammer from death mountain or spear from zora domain. I know i want normal functioning boomerang that i dont have to manualy catch

>I didn’t have to pause every few enemies
That is EXACLTY the bullshit part in your whining. I cannot understand what kind of fucking sticks you were using or if you were literally just A-spamming nonstop, because my weapons lasted at least long enough to take an entire camp of L2-3 foes at once.
You also do know about the quick switch, no??

>NOOOO YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO USE WEAPONS IN BOTW, YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO USE THE PHYSICS PROPS THAT HAVE WORSE IMPLEMENTATION THAN HALF-LIFE 2 TO SLOWLY BLUDGEON THOSE GOLD MOBLINS TO DEATH

>haha spinning savage lynel crusher goes WOOSH WOOSH WOOSH

It was never going to be released this year, not on Mario's year.

I understand maybe having shit get weaker over time that you later maybe have to fix/upgrade. But the breaking/gathering was annoying.

Literal autism.

>You also do know about the quick switch, no??
That’s the “pausing” I’m talking about, it’s annoying and not as fun than not having to.

They could tie it to all actions like in a albw but i don't know how annoying that would get with weapons duration and stamnia being tied together

you can always tell who only watched people play through the great plateau area by the complaints
>huuurr durr wepon break every 4 hits bad game!

>But the breaking/gathering was annoying.
No it wasn't. It enhanced and enforced the SURVIVAL aspect of the adventure, kept the power creep at bay for a decent amount of time, plus allowed the game to both provide the player with practical rewards for achievements AND encourage experimentation with different weapons, tools and tactics.

Yeah I started the game with the Heros Shield and 8bit Sword which fell off early so I ended up having most of my inventory dedicated to spears to chuck at enemies before I approached while also relying on stealth until I grabbed a decent sword and a couple of good . Having tools that don't break also severely reduced the tedium of collecting resources and when I eventually grabbed the master sword I didn't have to end up using it as my pickaxe.
