Io cares and respects you a lot, though "friend" is underselling her love for you.
Now that I think about it, most of the NPCs in the Souls games are extremely respectful and polite.

Yes, he's extremely kind. Only difference is that he doesn't have that element of a very human send of "what do I owe you for saving my life" humility and later is a bit self-absorbed though not at all by his fault.
I suppose Laurentius has grown in popularity. At on point almost no one mentioned his character traits.

Not stupid but rather I imagine him friendly to most non-threats which separates him from both Laurentius and Quelana in manner. Still a good guy. Not as egotistical as Gough (who I still love).

I swear I'm alone here but Oswald seems not an unfriendly Souls NPC despite...things, otherwise he would not be where he is doing what he is doing... Also, Lothi- Creighton, I mean. Dubious still.
She's as open though and ultimately accepting (again, not for conditions you caused or bear) so she's better than many.
Was Oswald the priest in 1 or 2? So many people forget about them as characters.

You're very right op. In lore someone giving someone else a pyromancy flame is a very personal thing that's kinda a big deal. The fact that he gives you one free of charge is important.

The sealer, Ingward, will move from New Londo to Firelink Shrine if you speak to him after defeating the Four Kings. You can find him in a nook near where Logan and Griggs are.
You don't miss much. He only offers a brief comment about the sunlight and his services there.
I don't know, I just know that with the cuts to New Londo/Jar Eel/White Sentinels (or whatever they'd have been called, I imagine Leeroy would have been a Covenant leader) that came in 2011 as that was what they were working on last also came an unfinished Ingward and also probably a lack of bonfire.
