The visual fidelity and animation quality of Crysis 3 is absolutely insane for something that released in 2013 and was somehow ported to PS3/360.

Both 2 and 3 look worse than the first game even maxed out on PC and the linearity killed any interest in the game.
I remember in Crysis 2 when I snuck through a base completely undetected, only for a cutscene to magically have the enemy discover where I was.
Crysis 2's contextual weapon animations were no slouch, either. I'd love if the Crysis remaster implemented this kind of animation.
>Both 2 and 3 look worse than the first game even maxed out on PC
this is the most retarded meme that gets regurgitated here
After all these years and I'm still in love with Crysis 2's sountrack. Specially its ending when Alcatraz emerges from the rubble but it's revealed that Prophet took over.
Shaky screen so real
back the fuck up user, boutta open my folder of modded shrubs
>Both 2 and 3 look worse than the first game even maxed out on PC
No they don't. Thinking this is a sign of absolute delusion.
>and the linearity killed any interest in the game.
Crysis 3 is extremely non-linear compared to contemporaries.
>I remember in Crysis 2 when I snuck through a base completely undetected, only for a cutscene to magically have the enemy discover where I was.
That's not an issue of linearity. That's an issue of story and gameplay intersecting. Crysis is not Thief. It's a supersoldier simulator.
That's half true and half false.
>visual fidelity
>motion blur + shaking screen behind wriggling UI & suit effects
The quality of the work was really good but I think fidelity is a poor choice of words when so much post processing turns the image into a flaky burnt crisp.
I really wish Crysis 3 had doubled down on the body horror elements from Crysis 2 instead of unreliable narrator-ing its way out of the corner with "I REPLACED IT, LIKE A SPARE PART."
Dude, you STOLE HIS GODDAMN BODY.
its not
look at RE5 cutscenes. those are top tier and are easily better than Uncharted but its get 0 recognition becuase Capcom wasnt a popular company to like back then
Motion blur is critical for this style of animation, and there's a reason the original Crysis has it. It's similar in other CryEngine titles like Prey 2017. The wrench just doesn't feel right unless it has that "whiiiip" blur effect as it passes by the camera.
Yeah, it would've been cool to see Alcatraz fighting Prophet's mind for control of the nanosuit.
Even heavily downgraded on consoles, Crysis 3's cutscene animation fidelity is light years beyond something like RE5.

>talking shit about object motion blur
motion blur is absolutely critical for realistic animations, and has become a mandatory staple of tripple a titles.
>hur dur motion blur is shit xD
camera motion blur (can be) is shit, but not object motion blur which when used right can result in fantastic looks
Is Crysis 3 a fun game? 2 feels like shit to play
It's a lot better than Crysis 2, but also shorter.
Not that user but the faces in Re5 are definitely more expressive. Crysis 3 looks great but it's facial animations are incredibly stiff, even compared to older stuff like Half-Life 2.
Crysis 3 suffers from very unbalanced difficulty (too easy), but its level design is far more open than Crysis 2's. Chief flaw is being rather short (about 6 hours long), and the aforementioned difficulty balancing issues. Story makes a lot more sense if you've played Crysis 1+Warhead because it revolves so heavily around Psycho and Prophet.
Yes, I imagine that mostly because Crytek always had a bunch of Eastern European gun nuts working for their art departments, so the huge fidelity of the animations on the guns contributed to that reputation.
Half-Life 2 has exaggerated facial animation. RE5 has exaggerated Japanese facial expressions. Crysis 1's facial animation is a generation beyond beyond HL2: Episode 2, for instance, but it doesn't have characters doing that "LOOK AT MY FACIAL ANIMATION" thing Valve's games do.
A lot of people have forgotten that one of the big "wow" aspects of the original Crysis was characters who animated and emoted naturally.

Crytek always took storytelling fairly seriously. (They're called Cry-tek because they literally wanted to make games that made people cry.) Far Cry 1 was more tongue in cheek, but Crysis leaned heavily into genuine human drama and strong characterization. You understand what kind of people Prophet and Psycho are from the moment you meet them. Not just through words, but Psycho's cocky smile, and Prophet's stance. You also glean details about what kind of person Nomad is through how he responds to the events of the game. Speaking of Nomad, though, I always wondered if Crytek originally planned on a male/female protag option. The make/female nanosuit voice option seems like exactly the kind of thing you'd put in a game with a silent protagonist of fuzzy gender. I always wondered if voiced Nomad was a later addition -- a voiced protag to make the story flow better.

Who cares about all that technology when the art direction is shitty? I hate how everything looks so clean and gummy. The weapon models, the character models are all very unappealing.
you forgot to mention that it isn't fun, like at all. What's the point of fantastic graphics, animation, and sound if the gameplay is total dog shit?
>corridor shooter
>no super run
I fucking loved this. Same, I really want to see animations for enemies as well. Like when you shot someone in the leg and they properly stumbled, or in the chest knocking them back. Theyre good at animations.
how does half life 2 have exaggerated facial animation? Not being a douche I'm honestly asking because I always thought it was one of the few games with really game facial animation. Even half life alyx, despite its flaws, has seriously impressive facial work at play
>motion blur
>DoF
>screen shake
nigga thats gay as fuck your eyes should do that automatically. all this does is make my eyes sore.
The art direction in Crysis 1/3 is beautiful.
Crysisfags are either blind or delusional.
Crysis 3 is very fun. It's just a more uneven experience.
>>corridor shooter
Did you even play the game?
>how does half life 2 have exaggerated facial animation?
The G-Man is way, way overanimated. Take this:

Why are his eyebrows moving so much? HL2 has a similar style of facial animation to something like TimeSplitters 3. Characters don't frown. They FROWN. They don't smile. They SMILE. Their bones are being pulled around like puppets.
