Say what you will about the rest of the game, but idk if I've ever seen better graphics
Say what you will about the rest of the game, but idk if I've ever seen better graphics
this game has the best looking graphics and the worst at the same time. on ps4 haven't seen anything better but i looked at an iron grate in the road and it looked like gamecube textures.
Are you being sarcastic?
the character models are one of the best I've ever seen, the in-game models even look better than the weird, clean and overly animated ones in the pre-rendered cutscenes. but the geometry and textures in the slum areas look worse than some 7th gen games. i don't understand how it was so poorly optimized. anything other than the slums usually looks decent or great.
good thread
Jesus man, even Detroit Become Human has better character models
>the character models are one of the best I've ever seen
Final fantasy's presentation is too all over the place to praise. Some places genuinely look fantastic while others look like they've come out of a ps2 game, made even more jarring by the good looking player models.
This is it bros....welcome to next gen
>comparing open world with corridors
why do people do this? these games are not designed the same way.
this game is actually garbage because the one thing that matters is a consistent art style.
if your game is a consistently low res style it will still look ok but this shit is so jarring. the good main character models make the jarring and clashy NPCs and environments even worse. if you game doesn't have consistency it has nothing.
Is that an orangatan the right?
Yeah, but can Tifa power chant an entire army away? Didn't think so.
How prevalent are shared faces on random NPCs in FF7R? I remember I started noticing that in W3 really quickly.
why does the corridor (made by the biggest AAA pubisher in the continent) looks like shit compared to the open world (third game made by a bunch of poles)?
has square made a real hit game lately? everything seems to get a soggy reception at best
7r seems to be doing well for now but its so fucking stupid under the hood that i can't see it staying in people's minds as well as the original
Physics based hair continues to look like dogshit.
>Lower left's helmet
yikes
I wonder why JRPGs almost always tend to do this, though? They have comparatively crazy detailed character models while zones come off as "oh yeah, we need those too" so they half-ass it with presentation from like two generations ago.
>the one thing that matters is a consistent art style.
Consistency can be literally irrelevant to a vidya experience but that's beside the point, considering the issue you're bitching about has literally nothing to do with art style
Trials of Mana remake could be good, but it's obviously a low budget title.
i'm not trying to defend it or even explain it but i've seen "high detal character low detail background" in a lot of animations, so it could be trying to do that.
the issue is the low detail backgrounds in animations is usually a design choice and said background is usually pretty stylized, wheras most videogames with it just look fucking awful and lazily done.
its likely just a budgeting priority thing that causes it but they could absolutely add some basic level of form to it and pass it of as a stylistic choice
because translating the character designer's artwork is a huge deal in japan. who designs your characters is the kind of shit that sells games in japan.
I'm telling you people, FF7fags are the absolute worst.
seek help you fucking retard
That doesn't make the helm acceptable
>mfw witcher 3 face textures
i miss when we could just laugh at things that look like shit in anything without it being part of some retarded fanbase war
Come on guys, that's not fair. Wait until the textures load in before taking screen shots. You have to give them game 6 or 7 minutes of standing there to finish loading.
Difference is JRPGs tend to not go for realistic looks as a rule aka they're not interested in showing off every pore, mole and crease on someone's face. You get the usual porcelain doll look instead.
posts an end of year 2017-2018 new year sale after it already sold over 1m at full price and over a whole year after launch only then went on a limited time sale at a single store during 2018 new years that only lasted a week before royal edition was announced in January 2018 and back at full price
>ffxv vanilla in 2020 was back at full price again too
cope
7R is selling less than XV in Japan and XV is SEs best selling FF ever when comparing release timespans
consistent assets are at the very core of art style user. that's what an art director is for holy shit.
too bad it sucks
oh no no no how will barry recover?
See Stay BTFO
the character models arent even that good. there what you would expect for a ps4 game
ok
game still sucks
all i saw was cope lmao
