Oculus Quest

Since launch they added
>using the Quest as a PCVR headset
>tons of bug fixes, Oculus Link basically flawless now
>hand tracking
>hand tracking automatically activating when the controllers don‘t move
>setting up the playarea boundaries with only your hands
>voice command features
>multitasking apps
>stereo correct passthrough
>activating the passthrough cameras by tapping the side of the headset twice (picked up by the tracking cameras)
>launching games through the app to guide your normie friends in the headset
why don‘t you have the Quest?

Because the Rift S is superior.

I do, its much better than the Rift S

Because I have an Index

>hand tracking automatically activating when the controllers don‘t move
This is actually a huge pain in the ass for web browsing and video watching on the quest

Does hand tracking not suck for some people?
I love my quest, but so far handtracking is TERRIBLE.

I legitimately feel bad for people who own a Rift S instead of this.

I don't play mobile, just PCVR.

Yeah, but I do miss how super lightweight my CV1 was.

If I could afford it, I'd get an Index and Quest... Of course...

But if I had only enough for a S and quest, the S would get at least some use.

Rift S is better at PCVR and playing mobile phone VR games is lame.

quest has higher resolution for PCVR

This. Using Link makes it a worse headset.

rift s has a higher subpixel count because of the subpixel arrangement which means it actually has a sharper image and less screendoor effect

Sharper, but lower contrast because it's not oled.
And only sharper if you have a normal IPD.

quest has OLED and less screendoor effect. Overall better headset

The Quest actually had less screen door effect than the rift s.

>quest has less screendoor effect
false

Rift S also has higher refresh rate. The Quest simply isn't good for PC VR.

Because it's owned by Facebook.

Samsung HMD Odyssey+ back in stock when?

Rift also has an extra tracking camera, and is WAY more comfortable.

nice edit, but that has been dis proven multiple times

Ive had the Quest since December and I play it almost every day.

Has anyone actually tried Oculus Link with it yet? I want to play Alyx but I am wondering how it is with a Quest or just other games in general. I have a pretty good PC to use it with

Lighting plays a massive role

>overpriced
>gimmick games
>literally just the Wii all over again

VR has never worked well. Vacation Simulator and Garry's Mod 2 isn't my idea of fun.

I played through all of alyx with link
No issues

I've made my room as bright as I can.
Even bright plus my infared floorlight on.
Still sucks

Are we talking outside in daylight levels of light?
I haven't tried that, but I heard outside can fry the lenses easy.

BTW if you have a quest buy an infared floodlight.
Passthrough nightvision in pitch black is cool, too.

I like the Quest but its obvious LCD screens are simply better choice, slightly darker blacks is irrelevant compared to the loss of visual clarity in OLED

>why don‘t you have the Quest?
Maybe because they're all fucking sold out thanks to the ching chong flu.

I wanted to buy a Rift S but I can't because there's no more children in china to make them and they won't be back in full stock until December.

You can turn it off though

>tfw try out a friend's Quest and Rift S
>literally we all noticed and agreed the Quest was a worse headset with lower resolution, more screendoor effect, and was much less comfortable
>mfw people on Yas Forums implying my actual experiences are wrong
>mfw now I have a Rift S and I'm pretty happy with it

The S has more sub pixels in a better arrangement
Anyone who says S has more screendoor is silly

Biggest issue with the S is lack of ipd adjustment. I literally cannot use one without getting bad head aches

Yeah that part is pretty unfortunate. Rift S is a headset that's better for the "average" person, but worse for others, while the Quest is worse for the average, but better for others.
