Yes, there is a backyard area. Chibi Robo Park Ranger (ds) is..well obviously..fully set outside in a park. Also has a fast food joint and bank.

it's pretty good. combat is a little weak but general metroidvanian is a lot of fun. it's getting some big DLC and a sequel since it apparently sold really well
