How would a crossover with Portal's main character work?
How would a crossover with Portal's main character work?
It wouldnt
Having one of them speak would be cringe
I liked half life 2's pistol and it's gammin little pop sounds.
It wouldn't be the first time they did that though. Barney Calhoun was silent and they made him speak in HL2.
Closest thing to a crossover they could realistically pull off would be finding the portal gun on the Borealis.
what
Pretty sure there's already porn of this, OP.
You play as him in Blue Shift.
Hmm
Maybe with Gordon you'd be playing the game and you'd just find hints of her being around, like maybe the Aperture Science lab coat, and sweater hanging around in some obscure location or shack that you'd find on your way to somewhere. And maybe Gordon could actually see her in some new resistance clothing being checked up on by a Medic. And have maybe the Medic give Gordon a basic rundown about her
>You won't believe Gordon! She's from Apenture Science! I'm no lying. Haha! It's crazy but its true, she came in with the clothes and even a fully operational Portal Gun. I wish she was more talkative though for some reason she doesn't really like talking bout what happened there. She kinda reminds me of you!
In terms of Game play those 2 games are entirely different so you ain't gonna get anything out of that.
Who cares about Chell, I want to see GLaDOS testing Gordon. She could literally teleport him from the borealis to Apperture.
Difference is, Barney already speak in HL1, user
Really, completely different story
Ever played Blue Shift? He doesn't speak at all
None of those guys were Barney though. The just used barney as a generic name for them.
Nu Valve would chell look ugly like nu-Alyx.
Calhoun from Blue Shift is Barney in HL2.
>Chel crossing over into the Half-Life lore
..Why? Who would care about this? Literally what is she good for? She doesn't show any level of usefulness to the Resistance concerning the story of Half-Life. She's just a human who jumps through test rooms.
I also don’t care for Half-Life.
She is pretty much on the level of a black-ops assassin of acrobats and Gordon itself was just an ordinary scientist before the resonance cascade, you wouldn't know what Chel could do with a gun.
>Chell literally shoots portals in constant momentum with precise accuracy while flying from portal to portal
Yep, she could handle a gun.
All Chel has is boots that stop her from dying from tall heights. She doesn't even know what a headcrab is. We don't even know if she understands what life is like outside of the facility, Combine or not. She could be incredibly desensitized to everything.
Unlike Gordon (who actually has a history in his franchise), Chel is just an isolated convenient fill-in for the player in the story. She's convenient for Aperture's own story, but she's worthless outside of it.
She has the stubbornness and mental fortitude to run around an abandoned facility with an AI trying to kill her meanwhile a shit ton of people have died/would have died/would have wanted to die if they were in her situation. Putting a gun in her hands would help the resistance quite a bit I'd imagine. Also
None of this thread even matters, the events of Portal 2 take place long after Half-Life 2. Lore-wise they couldn't stick her with Gordon and Eli where they are right now. She's never even seen the Borealis outside of the Dry-dock, her only experience is with a toy. Aperture never even did anything majorly useful with the portal gun, because it has no practical use.
Doesnt the 7 hour war happen between portal 1 and 2?
>Are you trying to escape? HahahHAhaHAHahahaa
>Things have changed since the last time you left the building.
>Whats going on up there will make you wish you were back in here.
7 Hour war has transpired.
>I have an infinite capacity for knowledge, and not even I know whats going on outside.
>All I know is I'm the only thing standing between us, and them. Well, I was.
>I was
During the events of Portal 1, she either learned the existence of Gordon Freeman, or he's present on earth during the later half of Portal 1.
> the events of Portal 2 take place long after Half-Life 2
This is kinda fuzzy because we really don't know how much time passed between Portal 1 and Portal 2, at the end of Portal 2 we not even know if the combine is still on Earth or there even humans, to begin with.
But from a plot standpoint, I don't see much use of the Aperture facility being "GLaDOSless" during the HL events. The storytelling potential of passing through on the Apperture facility to recover some tech (portal gun) with GLaDOS on your ass is limitless.
"During Half Life events"
Its not important during half life events because its Portal's story, not Half-Life. It links during HL2:E2, but Aperture is only ever going to be tied into HL via the Borealis. It is useless outside of it. Glados' destruction built up the events to Portal 2, not open up a story for Half-Life.
>Aperture never even did anything majorly useful with the portal gun
> because it has no practical use
I think Portal 2 takes place around 20-30 years after Portal 1. There could be a time skip during HL3 if Portal 2 takes place after it. As for how Chell would end up in Eastern Europe, gman could just have teleported her there without any formalities or introduction since she'd probably be impossible to make a deal with but would still be immensely helpful in defeating the combine.
>Not even the Combine know how to teleport, and Apperture had figured that out in the 1940s!
Forgot pic
Jesus christ you guys need to AT LEAST READ half life lore.
Really? A time skip after Half-Life 2? Why? The premise is that the Combine and the Resistance are racing for the Borealis.
>B-b-but Eli's brain didn't get read by the Overseer because HL:Alyx, the combine don't know about the borealis anymore
They didn't get the information exclusively from that, they still have Mossman AND the message she sent out towards Kleiner and Eli.
And as for the portal gun, it doesn't matter to the Combine because a man-sized portal doesn't do anything for them aside moving basic foot-soldiers. They couldn't even fit a tripod in. And all of their machinery is giant and bio-mechanical, relying on organisms. They can't just box up these massive organisms and shove them through a tiny portal. They're looking for long-distance teleportation of massive structures. Something that can teleport an entire city or beyond that in terms of scale.
>And as for the portal gun, it doesn't matter to the Combine because a man-sized portal doesn't do anything for them aside moving basic foot-soldiers
So explain how the Borealis disappeared.
>They're looking for long-distance teleportation of massive structures
Literally the Borealis.
Also, Chel literally shots on the moon by the end of Portal 2 and get there in SECONDS. You could have planetary teleportation easily. We only saw "Human size" portals because fits the narrative of the Portal games, but Apperture DID and HAVE massive portal devices.
>Explain how the Borealis disappeared
Aperture was clearly making another teleportation device but on a more grandiose scale compared to the portal gun. They were already in a race with Black Mesa at the time, so they threw caution into the wind and the Borealis accidentally teleported itself across time and space. Nothing to do with the portal gun.
>Literally the borealis
Yes you dumb fuck holy fuck read the post you responded to earlier >Aperture is only ever going to be tied into HL via the Borealis
Never do I argue that Aperture is worthless, I say the Portal Gun is worthless.
>The end of Episode 3 has the Vorts teleport Gordon onto a wheatfield instead of a beach
>the last scene is him gazing at the Elysium-like scenery before spotting chell in the distance
>cut to black
>Tfw this thread cares more about Half Life lore then Valve does
I thought that wasn't confirmed tho. That was just a really obvious conclusion but not a confirmed one.
Specially the way Valve treats the Gearbox tittles.
They should just do a co-op. In the style of a non-symmetric FPS. One dude plays Gordon, the other Chell.
The fucking Portal Gun is for personal use, dumbass. Ya silly talking like the pulse rifle is shit because only fits one Combine soldier. Imagine a army armed with portal guns instead
Also, the Portals don't only show on "Moonrock" painted surfaces because Apperture already experimented with a functional portal gun while they were still making repulsion gels. The difference is that moonrocks are excellent conductors but aren't the only ones. So you pretty much has limitless pontential.
