Did Nintendo deserve the switch success? Everyone thought the Wii U made them humble. Many said to stop with the gimmicks and go traditional but instead they doubled down with gimmicks instead. This had all the makings of a Sega Saturn scenario but instead people ate it up. Would video games be in a better place with two Nintendo failures in a row?

Not very bright, are u

someones mad they dont have a switch

>Did Nintendo deserve the switch success
yes you fucking zero iq dipshit

don't worry op, the quarantine shortage won't last forever you should be able to get a switch soon

>Many said to stop with the gimmicks and go traditional but instead they doubled down with gimmicks instead.
And that's exactly what they did, the only gimmicky feature the Switch has is the HD rumble, everything else is a matter of pure functionality.

Assuming video games somehow survived the same way without Nintendo, PS and Xbox would just be 2 different systems that people only play yearly sports games, CoD and GTA on. I don't see how that's any better for anyone. Why the fuck are console wars a thing, holy shit it needs to stop.

>worse online than the Wii U (but paid)
It deserved to fucking fail

>Did Nintendo deserve the switch success?
No company deserves anything. Nintendo made a product no one wanted with the Wii U and they made a product people wanted with the Switch.
Thats it.

>Why the fuck are console wars a thing, holy shit it needs to stop.
Because there are a lot of underage people here whose parents only buy them one console

Seeth toddlers

Because a lot of gamers are fucking manchildren who never grew out of arguing with little Billy over the N64 and PS1.

The Switch has a great 3 years but when PS5 and X2 release it will tank. The gimmick will not help the much when people see the real next gen console graphics. It will be the biggest leap we've ever seen.

>NOOOOO STOP LIKING NINTENDO
>ALL THIS YEARS OF SHITPOSTING I WAS SUPPOSED TO CHANGE YOUR MINDS
Yeah I don't thinks so dude.

>when PS5 and X2 release it will tank
PS5 and Sexbox need some games first.

Switch just proved what people have been saying for years. Marketing is the only thing that matters. The Switch is actually a downgrade from the Wii U in many respects (particularly online)

>Wii U
>has a lot of great games but not as much third party support
>Denied some mainline games (no Pokemon on console, no metroid)
>Best nintendo console to use as an emulator (with best handheld being new 3dsxl/2dsxl)
>Nearly all the good games are ported to switch and yet people/reditors praise it every time switch gets a wii u port

they should have just called it the Nintendo U

>ps5
>599.99 part two
>no games, will probably just get PS4 ports, many of which are PS3 ports

there's no reason to get a playsta

they hit their markers with good games and merchandise out the ass, i dont know if you are aware but people don't buy one switch, they buy several for their homes and then amiibos and labo and all of it adds up

I guess they deserved it more than XBRAP or Ps5

I love my switch

Kind of a stupid question, obviously the answer is yes because tons of people want what they're offering. Personally though, I really wish they would have finally gone back to a traditional design with competitive tech. Would be nice to play some of their IPs that aren't completely gimped by hardware. Oh well.

It‘ll be hard to go back to unstable 30fps for botw 2 after playing the first on pc

>back to a traditional design with competitive tech

They did this with the gamecube already and failed. Then again with the Wii U although the latter had more to do with bad marketing.

It's almost a shame Nintendo didn't follow behind Sega going 3rd party. Probably would have been one of the best things to happen to the industry. Depending on your perspective, their software has been held back by their hardware since the N64 or GC.

This, ever since the wii i've felt like everything they release is just slow and hard to look at.

The 2d to 3d was bigger of a leap

>I really wish they would have finally gone back to a traditional design with competitive tech
There isn't really much of a reason for them to do that, though. Why try to compete with two companies who pretty much already have their fans locked in when you have your own part of the market that they aren't even trying to appeal to?

The GC was also gimped by the mini discs and lack of DVD player. They haven't had strictly competitive hardware since the snes.

Did you miss the memo about the limited launch?Corona fucked up Switch's time in the limelight, but it also softened those launches.

I get why they do it. It's just a shame I don't fit into the demo they're targeting, is all.

This right here. Marketing is what matters. I’m trying To think of a console with good marketing that failed anyway

I don‘t think nintendo going 3rd party was ever gonna happen. The worst case scenario was that the switch bombs as well and they just stick to handhelds and continue to do well since there is no competition in that market. This would have meant even worse quality games now so it‘s not that bad, though i do hope they release a switch pro of some sort in the future or at least a dedicated home console version

I wish the switch would have failed and they would develop games for xbox one. Super Mario in 4K and 60fps. Great. Or Metroid Prime 4 in unreal engine 5. Wonderful.
