Simple stories BUT WITH A TWIST

A lot of people on Yas Forums could direct a FF game better than the autists at Square Enix today.

That guy was just big brained. Taro could also direct a 10/10 FF game for example, because his head is functioning properly.

While his over-ambitiousness cost Square their freedom, Sakaguchi was well known at the time for giving freedom in the company, which is why they were able to pump out good, creative games that aren't following the braindead formula of catering to the most players possible.

There were rumors that Yoichi Wada was very jealous of the amount of influence Sakaguchi had over the company.

Wada was a known shithead, so I'd believe it honestly.

He had great taste and wanted FF to stand alongside iconic anime and manga classics rather than looking at what other videogames were doing or what would sell the most copies.

It's like how Pixar used to have a really distinct style and each of their projects was a big deal that everyone worked on together, and now they just kind of pump stuff out and have a more corporate environment.

Idealistic people like him who really value the individual artists, taking risks, and keeping the soul of the work intact are always quickly made obsolete by their own success. Art through adversity and craftsmanship can make a successful product, but they can't make a publicly traded corporation's bottom lines look good perfectly on time for every investor meeting, and that's all that matters in the modern industry.
