Nier Automata was solid.
But last major good writting was X, I can't find that many plot holes in it, it's pretty straightforward

I think "summoner wars" between Zanarkand and Bevelle which led to the destruction of the former before there were fayths and thus, anything to summon, is a major plot hole to me desu.

i just think that it was presented in the worst possible way. You have to read the logs in the menu, otherwise you don't understand what's going on or why anything is happening. I'm not saying it's all good, and I think 13-2 went way off the deep end and LR tried to bring it back around but it just got 10x more bizarre.

In terms of gameplay though,
13-2 > LR > 13

First off, Nothing from FF has good writing. Final Fantasy 10 is the closest to be written well, but the retarded plot twist near the end ruins it.

By good writing you just mean interesting plots and not actual good writing right (which includes narrative, storytelling, literary merit, script and more shit)?

FFX, Twewy, Bravely default have "good plots" as in interesting stories with le ebin reddit twists.

The last game that has some sort of actual good writing was FFIX

X. SE does not have a single good game on their name other than Nier Automata and I think Platinum made that one.

You might not like them in terms of plot but in terms of writing, FF Tactics and FFXII are the strongest in the series by far. Even the localizers came forward to say they've never seen writing like this coming from Japanese games.
