Yes but its more to do with falling g in western populations

This is a bad example though. No matter how good you are at navigating Skyrim’s quest design is literally impossible to navigate without the markers. Blame the designers for this one.

unless youve never used a gps youre a hypocrite
also television and film

Also to be fair game worlds used to be a bit smaller back then. Also wrong board, bro.

how ironic...

I know GTA 3, vc and sa maps like the back of my hand. 4 & 5 I have no clue. All bland an no landmarks.

This is Yas Forums

It is when your world is 90% padding.

Hot take: ammo and ammo limits are a pointless, archaic mechanics that should be scrapped from 99% of shooters
Forcing the player to scrounge for a finite resource is a method of artificially expanding 'gameplay', and the entire concept is bloated, pointless and boring
>the game wouldn't be challenging if you couldn't run out of ammo
Then it's a bad game. The variations in difficulty in any FPS that gives you a variety of different guns should come from damage, accuracy, magazine size and reload speed, in that order. That's what should force the player to choose this weapon and not that one, not simply making it so the player can't do something because the developers didn't think to put a box of this particular finite resource here instead of over there.
When was the last time a game was improved by forcing you to stop having fun to go find ammo? Why is it there in the first place?
>Because it's what the other games do
Is that really a good excuse, for anything?
Really?

Attached: 1469061236598.jpg (200x200, 11.51K)

>When was the last time a game was improved by forcing you to stop having fun to go find ammo?
but people love resident evil

i bet u mod games to be easier

Pathologic
The fact that youknow that you have to make every shot count is great and makes you very hesitant to engage in combat. Also, bullets are so valuable that it might be better to just sell them.

Idiotic opinion. Resource management under pressure is fun. Weapons without ammo ruin immersion.

Idiotic opinion. Resource management under pressure is fun. Weapons without ammo ruin immersion.

Games more focused on survival that make ammo scarce would be ruined if you did that. And in action fps games you'd just end up using the best weapon all the time, why the fuck would you ever switch to an assault rifle when your bazooka has unlimited ammo? I guess you could take the fistful of frags approach and have reload times limit powerful weapons, but then players are just gonna sit in the corner reloading their shit all the time.

You can always play Megaman

why not just have an infinitely high fire rate and infinitely high damage and an infinitely adjustable sight and also aim bot and 100 ms full health regen and wall hacks? haha what are you saying that I have pooor visual-spatial processing and a week internal clock and motor skills what? hahahaha

More like is writing good quests and designing interesting, concise worlds a lost skill

This. 90% of the Skyrim map is so uninspired and devoid of content how are you supposed to even be able to navigate shit without the markers?

I'd argue it's not that bad actually, there are usually plenty of landmarks around the place and if you dropped me into a completely random part of the world I could probably tell you approximately where I am. The problem is less with world design (in Skyrim's case anyway), but instead with quest design. A world you can navigate is pretty worthless if the quest gives you nothing to go off of, no directions or anything.
Also another problem with no quest markers is that character move around. In Morrowind for example characters usually stand still or maybe walk around a small area, they don't go in and out of buildings and whatnot so it's easier to find them.

I can beat every single New Vegas quest without looking at the map or the objectives.

Skyrim is a fucking shit game so it’s not surprising

Literally the only semi-decent western developer left is Rockstar. Every other western developer is focused on making a “cinematic experience” OR their game is completely cucked with Jewish leftist propaganda.

>rockstar
Don't forget to buy more cars in GTA online goy!
Anyway there are plenty of decent western devs, it's just that they're mostly small studios or indie devs. The big players all aim for the mainstream audience and so they make dumb trash with microtransactions because despite how much people complain about them online, fuckloads of people still buy them.

The online portion of rockstar games is shit and anyone who plays it is sub 80 IQ. RDR2 single player was pure kino though.

95% of Small western dev releases are walking simulators that are loose allegories for the directors struggle of learning how to dilate properly

t. fallout shit vegas ape

Every single fallout game is shit. I’m a Japanese game chad.

>Every other western developer is focused on making a “cinematic experience” OR their game is completely cucked with Jewish leftist propaganda.

and what the actual fuck does that have to do with Skyrim being a shitty game?

GTA V's map is all landmark, every part of the map is memorable except the boring suburbs in LS

>Yas Forums - Television & Film

beg your pardon, it's usually newvegas zoomers seethe about Skyrim (for some strange reason)

Fallout is shit because Bethesda has made exactly 0 good games.

Sorry, Skyrim*

video games are completely artificial wtf

>Rockstar
GTA V and RDR2 were utter shit so no.

95% of any industry if always dogshit, it's just that it gets forgotten and only the significant things are remembered. 95% of japanese games are gacha garbage, but people only talk about shit like Nier and From softworks games.

Morrowind was good and Oblivion is enjoyable simply for how silly it is.

reminder that skyrim is peak iq-enjoyment.
only normies hate on skyrim.

Attached: civialwar.png (1350x2128, 394.82K)

Japan has a much better track record. Nintendo alone has more quality titles under its belt than every single western developer combined.

>Morrowind was good
The only good part about it was the fact alchemy is busted so you can just cheat and become overpowered with ease. Everything else sucks.

It's also a lost skill IRL as well. People today are unable to get anywhere with a car without using a GPS.

Too bad the gameplay is shit and the "story" or "lore" is only good if you're a 95 IQ pseud that has literally never read a book outside of the required reading course for high school.

>Rockstar.

the lore was banged out by one guy hopped up on amphetamines locked in a motel room for three days. it is pure genius.

>skeletons that no one seems to give a shit about moving
Bro you want to be haunted?

agreed. half of most games is a walking simulator looking in bodies for ammo. utter shit gameplay.

Remember when you had to read the quest text in wow to figure out what to do yea thous where the (shit) times.

Absolutely pleb tier take.

>wow
sorry i dont play shit games

not to me it isnt. I turn off that markers, maps and radar shit off straight away and enjoy the challenge of just figuring out where I am and need to go.

I don't get why we can't go back. Walking through endless fields or wasteland for 10 mins until you reach an objective isn't that fun or immersive. I'd rather have a smaller, functional world

Morrowind was trash in nearly every regard and you don't have a single argument suggesting otherwise. Cope.

Depends on game. Something like Resident Evil only works solely because of its resource management gameplay. I agree on the front most video games suffer from sacred cows however.

>(shit) times.
mostly thanks to shit questlog window and how small and tucked away it is

Yeah I loved that you needed to read the quest text but half the mechanics are completely hidden haha great game bro totally made a difference

I liked ShadowRun the Games because you can pretty much approach the Quest how you want it.

Eiger and Glory are Bae

nier automata is probably the last good AAA game i played
everything after it was shit

>great story and lore
>unique world filled with things to do and little empty padding
>one of the most fun magic systems ever in a game
>interesting quests and characters
The combat system was meh, but then that's the case for 99% of rpg games and the early game is slow as fuck, literally because you move at a snails pace. But those are pretty much the only major problems I can think of with this game. And before you make some halfassed snarky rebuttal about how the lore and story are stupid or whatever why don't you post an example of what you think is good.

>Is remembering how to navigate based on memorisation and landmarks a lost gamer skill?

Game maps used to be fucking tiny.

Considering most of the quest where kill 10x or collect 10x it was quit tedious.
Sure there where a few good quest lines but nothing really with your trubble. Especially when you just want to level.

also sneed

I can't think of a modern FPS that doesn't have virtually unlimited ammo.

Even Nioh?

Have you played Sekiro yet? That's just about the only recent good AAA game I can think of.

There was also a spell you could use that gave you some sort of fog or mist like line to your quest. I never used it though

>if you dropped me into a completely random part of the world I could probably tell you approximately where I am

And for how long have you played Skyrim to get this?

agreed. "the journeying's an experience" my ass

The only good part of the game was dungeons. And amazingly its the part literally nobody wants to do. They just want to powergrind to lvl 60 or whatever the current lvl cap is and raid.

Raiding is shit compared to dungeons. You just hit one button over and over for most of the classes and its the same in every xpac. What an idiotic mistake to make those things the final progression of the game

About 100 hours, although I could have probably done it after 20 or so.
>inb4 why did you play Skyrim for 100 hours
Mods

i read something about sakiro that made me not want to play it
but i forgot what it was so maybe i will give it a try now
how is nioh compared to DS games?

This, I wish more games opted for a hub world design, I remember only having to check my journal once or twice in VTM:B because I knew where everything was and could get there relatively quickly.

I dont remember gta sa much. But isnt it the same map?

>i read something about sakiro that made me not want to play it
The PC port maybe? It's the standard from software port where it's not well optimised and a pain in the ass to play without a controller, but it's not a deal breaker.

stop playing it on easy, fag.

you haven't played every Fallout game so please shut the fuck up

>Literally the only semi-decent western developer left is Rockstar.
Kill yourself shill.

soul vs soulless
simple as

Attached: 1570588728141.jpg (1280x720, 173.44K)

I liked skyrim. It was no oblivion but it was good. Gave us some jokes and laughs. It went to utter shit with 76

>"X was the last good game"
>"no good games after it"
>doesn't play any games
Everytime

Name one (1) FPS game where ammunition is a concern. The only ones I could possibly think of are faggot Unity horror survival games, which are not shooters.

That was Morrowind, after Morrowind they stopped with the celestial/metaphysical tower/wheel lore and went with something fit for any casual with barely two brain cells to rub together.

Doom Eternal
Metro Trilogy
Stalker

sry but I don't play shitty modern FPSs
go play Ion Maiden or something

The lore is the same across all the games, the weird shit just takes a back seat. Skyrim actually has mentions of kalpas in it's main storyline, but it's brief and most players probably missed it. Oh and in Oblivion you basically rewrite history during the Thieves Guild campaign.

My top 10 games in no particular order:
>Metal Gear Solid 3
>NieR Automata
>Super Mario World
>Devil May Cry 3
>Ghost Trick
>Monster Hunter 3U
>Super Mario RPG Legend of The Seven Stars
>Perfect Dark
>Bloodborne
>Resident Evil REmake

i don't know if you know this but morrowind is the third main game taking place in the elder scrolls lore

get used to it its always been like this
Yas Forums has decent cat care threads instead of /an/
Yas Forums has in-depth and comprehensive anime threads.
/k/ has good video games and tech advises
/diy/ has better car threads than /o/
list goes on

I don’t understand how you can complain that most modern games suck because they’re shooting for a cinematic experience and then praise RDR2. I really liked the game and it’s world but the actual core shooting mechanics and missions are boring and outdated as fuck. You are 100% on rails every single mission moving from one shooting gallery to the next. Sure the story itself isn’t awful so it can be forgiven but you can’t argue against cinematic experiences and say Red Dead 2 is anything but

Stopped reading at nier

Just like a beatles album

>Getting pleb filtered by Yoko Taro
Literally 2deep4u

ghost trick's the only based thing on here
you've lost your gigachad priviledges

The lore is virtually nonexistent in Skyrim outside of books, most of which were already in previous games.

Nier:A is overrated weeb shit, if anything it's you who got filtered and needs to play more video games

Legit do not understand the love for NieR Automata, it feels like every time people gush about the game literally no one talks about the actual gameplay. In my mind, having spent however many hours on Yas Forums since that game released, I can't paint a picture of how the game even plays.

Maybe if you have shit tastes.

Sucker Punch is no stranger to creating open worlds, but the fairly minimalist nature of the environments is a bit of a departure for the developer. Time in the story will pass as you explore, with titles telling you how much time it’s been since the invasion began.

>inb4 ironic hipster shit you put in like Parasite eve or LSD dream simulator

I know all this backstory and have read it before user. It doesn’t change the fact that Skyrim doesn’t make any effort to showcase its lore in any real meaningful way in game. Most players will only join one of the civil war factions for whatever armor they like more. This is precisely because any character mentions of lore are cursory and brief. In Arena->Morrowind at least, not so much Oblivion you were explicitly told to brush up on your history and knowledge of the world and your decisions as a player based on this would actually impact the world.

Outer Worlds

>memes
Thank you for admitting you have not played the game. Doom Eternal literally gives you infinite ammo on your reload button.

I remember running out of ammo in metro last light right before a boss. Had no saves that brought me back so i either had to restart or uninstall.

No one is going to use one gun the entire way through Doom Eternal or try to. The point is if you use a variety of weapons as you’re encouraged to by gameplay you will never come remotely close to running out of ammo, thus it is essentially endless

gitgud

How can you shit on Morrowinds lore and praise Skyrim’s which was leagues more stale and full of things we’ve seen before at the time of its release?

>How can you shit on Morrowinds lore and praise Skyrim’s
I'm not doing the latter though, mate.

Yes I enjoyed Doom too.

Nope.

I think I'm being a nostalgic faggot but I was incredibly disappointed that the new Grove Street had absolutely no reference to San Andreas or even tried to care about it.

>"No!"
Great rebuttal, post a story and lore that you think is good.
>Lots of things to do like talk to one of the million sterile NPCs that don't react to anything.
There are quests and dungeons all over the place.
>Overrated as fuck, only alchemy was interesting because of how broken it was, and to a lesser extent Enchant.
All magic is broken, that's what makes if fun, trying to find new ways to game the system. Alchemy is just the easiest one.
>Hahaha what the fuck, where?
Admittedly I wrote that without really thinking about it, most quests are just OK. Still some are great, like the pilgrimage to join the tribunal temple, the one where you have to build a statue for one of the daedric princes I forget which one, the one where you find a naked paralysed nord on the road etc.

Yes I enjoy being contrarian too.

Maybe if you play on easy where it takes on bullet pr enemy, but for people who are actually good at games, you are constantly low on ammo early game, and the chainsaw does run out of fuel.
I've never completely run out of all ammo, as you would have to be braindead to let that happen, but several times I ran out of ammo for the more useful guns.

You suck at it.

I have played the game you absolute retard, I just can't be bothered with giving any evidence because there is SO MUCH of it hence why I referenced memes,

Retards on Yas Forums will shit all over The Last of Us for being a shitty meme cinematic experience game (it is) but turn around and suck Half Life's dick despite it being the exact same thing.

Bloodborne is pure action Kino and it focuses on perfecting gameplay which is what should be the number 1 priority of every video game.

both your shit is gay and retarded you can shove this purity test up your gaping hole. by any reasonable standard both Bloodborne and Half Life are good games.

Half Life is a masterpiece and that's all I need to know to disregard your shit opinion on anything
Every single thing about Half Life is TIMELESS, the sfx, the plot, the gameplay, the graphics and the setting

>le ebin Gordon
Gordon is cool in that he's like the John McClane, not a hero, just a guy with incredible who just refuses to roll over and die. The first game understands that extremely well and plays it up with npc dialogue and such unlike HL2 which I feel is the main reason for people retroactively hating on the first one

Anybody else really fucking good at getting around town thanks to videogames? I never use GPS and when its a new location,I look at google maps for like 10 seconds and know where to go from then on.

It’s funny because that’s exactly what you were trying to do and now you don’t have any meaningful counters so you’re just trying to backpedal and say it wasn’t that hard after all. Not gonna reply anymore I’ve already won :)

Anyone who unironically puts Halflife in their top 10 is a massive pseud. It's like listing Citizen Kaine in your top 10 movies. It shows you're probably a zoomer that's trying to fit in with "le epic oldschool gamers" and that you're probably a sub 100 gamelet.

>putting a game in your top 10 based of the multiplayer being fun with friends
By far the most pleb thing you could ever do. Smashing your dick with a hammer can be fun with friends.

>someone playing the game chooses the game to not reload
more like
>the game's pace is too frantic and there isn't enough ammo which leads to a lot of the players being caught off guard for the first time
incorporating the chainsaw into your gameplay loop is pretty weird at first but it is straight up required because there isn't enough fuckin ammo

EDF EDF

Your opinions mean jackshit, as you're obviously just a consoletard.
Half Life is still one of the best shooters out there, and if the graphics are what's stopping you from playing it, it was completely revamped in Black Mesa, which anyone who wants to replay HL should play.
