Why did Tactical RPGs die?
Why did Tactical RPGs die?
menu simulators are boring
Too slow. How can you make them faster?
They didn't.
XCOM2 was a huge success, as was FE:3H.
>XCOM2
>tactical RPG
You know what? Your dislike of a game doesn't change it's genre.
fell seal was a pretty good spiritual successor to the FF:tactics games, desu.
Battle royales give more adrenaline
Because Matsuno stopped making them and no one else was nearly as good as him
>tfw there was never and will never be a true FFT sequel
Larian.
zoom zoom
...
tactics ogre is a wargame, not a rpg
I love SRPGs, but you can't deny that they're slow, which is a big reason for their relative obscurity.
I want to actually discuss this, because I'm planning on making my own SRPG, and I want to see what other people think about how to speed them up.
>I'm planning on making my own SRPG, and I want to see what other people think about how to speed them up.
there is no need to speed them up, its just the hyper coooonsumer majority on the search for another fix.
just include a speed up function, like in bravely default
>there is no need to speed them up
Have you played FFT? You have to select a guy, select where to move to, select a direction to face, confirm, select a guy to attack, confirm, etc. There's a lot that could be streamlined even with that.
just make it real time combat bro
I am playing Bahamut Lagoon.
The English translation is not that good, but I am still playing it. Any advise?
It shouldn't need this. The problem is japanese tactics games are poorly designed and very little time is actually spent making decisions. If the animations are longer than the time you have control of the game, its shit. How about instead we just admit that games like FFT, FE, Tactics Ogre, etc are complete garbage for the lowest subhumans imaginable.
The real question is "Why won't Square-Enix let Matsuno make a new game?"
Add a tug of war gauge at the top. You get bonuses the more quicker you make moves in comparison to the enemy.
darkest dungeon?
DD is in no way a strategy RPG.
you're making it sound more cumbersome than it actually is. you literally have to press a single button.
Fire Memblem
What do you mean? Fire Emblem is huge.
hows banner of the maid?
Western devs do it better. Imagine playing a Japanese tactics game after Xcom or even Divinity:OS.
>how to speed them up
Don't make long fucking animations
>strategy RPG
like mario and rabbids?
Anybody else looking forward to the new Brigandine?
bruh, look at dis dood.
natural doctrine is better than nucom and div os
Honestly , too niche.
Yes, but I don't have a switch.
I fully expect it to be out on PC within a year desu
>say something sensible
>follow it up with nonsense
Peak Yas Forumsideo game board on Yas Forums dot com.
But how else are we supposed to artificially inflate the length of the game?? We already force players to do grinding bullshit and side quest bullshit!!
Explain to me how those games are not complete shit. The fact of the matter is that TRPGs are dumb waifu shit like FE now because underage children, like those that commonly make up Yas Forums's userbase, actively seek out and play casual garbage like FFT and Ogre. There are complex japanese tactical games, but no one plays them. It's the biggest pile of bullshit when normalfags say they value these games for the tactics, obviously not true. You get what you deserve.
I liked Banner of the Maid.
