Specters were such a fucking let down. All the build up with them being the most elite of the elite of every species in the fucking galaxy and besides you and saren, not a single one ever features prominently in the story.

Yeah, they were basically dropped entirely after the first game. Only token mentions here or there after that and that one Asari boss who was a specter only for flavor.

I think his story arch sets up ME them and ideology pretty well. He was faster on his own but he didn't accomplish anything. ME is about leadership and using your friends and team to overcome challenges. There is nothing spectacular about Shepard, only that he's able to harness full potential of his group.

Still handled the concept better than Andomeda did with Pathfinders. It's like the devs wanted to make their own version of Specters but completely misinterpreted what a Specter actually was and couldn't actually decide what they wanted then to be and the results were extremely inconsistent. The beginning of the game sets then up to be nothing more than a commanding rank in the initiative, as evidenced by Corra being salty that you inherited the position when she was originally meant to get it, but then it quickly turns into this weird reverence, borderline religious worship that's given to them, as if they are some super special irreplaceable individuals with special powers and abilities. That whole plotline about the ark that list their Pathfinder and they treated it like they were completely fucked without them when the reality is that somebody should have been set up as the next in line to take command if necessary and business would proceed as normal.

This, the entirety of ME 1 is just KotOR with the Star Wars filed off and replaced with technobabble, because it's literally all the lead writer could put together.

People forget that, a lot of times, that is more a matter of character, than actual training. You can hone your skills, you cannot hone your spirit.

People hype up femshep way too much just because she was voiced by Jennifer Hale but honestly, it was possibly the worst role she has ever done. She's one of my favorite voice actors in general but she's still capable of giving a garbage performance and femshep was a garbage performance. She tried way to hard to sound tough which made everything sound forced and awkward. Folks accuse Meer's performance of being bland and dry but I actually found it more natural sounding and better fitting for the character.

The Pathfinder was a vehicle to thrust the player forward, much like the Spectre. But unlike the Pathfinder, the Spectre, which was literally an instrument of death, with the Council's blessing, this doesn't coincide with the Initiative's message of cooperation, diversity and inclusivity. Because everyone in Andromeda is the bestest ever and the kindest ever and there's no racism, just friendship and funtimes.

I don't really remember this. I know that Rachni noises play in certain areas of certain planets, but this is not related.
Also, you know, they should have fleshed out those resource collection missions into something more. Hell, Asari writings one doesn't even give you a codex entry, it's just text in the game files... but some mods bring it back and implement it properly. Also, that dude working for the battarians that's supposed to be turian but has human model instead...

Tali is one of the only squadmates in the series who has both a plot-relevant role and an actual character arc that ties into the overall narrative. In fact all of the squadmates bar her, Mordin, Legion, and Wrex are almost completely interchangeable outside of their side stories. This becomes very noticeable in the third game where those four all play major roles in the main story while everyone else is pretty much just an extra gun.
