Was talking to a friend about this, but I feel like the entire fucking game should have been about Maliwans merger and the chink dude in charge of it. Have him expanding their operations, causing all sorts of shit on multiple planets, and maybe have Tyreen and Troy as bit characters to simply explain why the psychos were helping Maliwan.
There are plenty of aspects of the COV that are fine, but the story around the DeLeon family is completely garbage. IT shouldn't have been a focus, and would have served better as a side story that people could easily ignore.

It's honestly the worst it's ever been. Handsome Jack was also a fucking memelord, but adding the layer of social commentary on influencer culture really just pushes the twins into a new level of cringe. The only thing worse than being cringe is being cringe while trying to make a point.

To be fair, the twins had SOME motivation. It was just handled VERY poorly. Daddy issues, dead mommy issues, and knowing they were special while also being locked away so they couldn't go out and be special. Hell, as generic as it sounds, it would have been better if they went out to try and take over the galaxy to "save" everyone, only to be a tyrannical force that was blind to its own injustice. Generic, sure, but you could at least understand they came from a place of good intent. It's never explained why the became evil and wanted to kill everything. It's never explained how Typhon was a bad dad. The current writing is so bad, ANYTHING would have been better, though I could also honestly imagine it being worse.

Fucking this. I pirated recently to blow through it with a bud and I was really surprised at how much I enjoyed it on the gameplay side of things. The maps are great, lots of versatility to make use of the new movement system, which is really fun to use, and the new alt fire gimmick was pretty neat as well.
But HOLY fuck I cannot even begin to fathom how they could botch the writing this hard. The constant, non-stop, never-ending drone of some fucker yammering in your ear with the most inane drivel was driving me insane. The cutscenes were long and un-interesting and so so so poorly written. It is actually a step down from previous entries in terms of story/writing and I didn't think they could get any lower.
