I doubt it's cut that cleanly. The story makes a lot more sense if it's Big Boss himself who finds and rescues/later recruits Gray Fox, for example. Moreover, the whole point of the ending is that Venom embraces the Big Boss title and everything that comes with, which is why he ultimately cooperates with Big Boss at Outer Heaven and dies there.

I don't care about le epic MGS lore, because its tras. However, I am forever annoyed that the open world sandbox tactical espionage action died with MGSV. The potential for some great game/s is there but no one has taken on the task since.

Interesting info. Big Boss being one sided isn't new but the ending when interpreted this way is a good way to explore that aspect.

IIRC that art is from MGO3, which was developed somewhat separately from MGSV.

Go look at the archives, he's the game's biggest schizo, convinced MGSV wasn't a scam and that PT and Death Stranding are connected to MGSV and that Kojima is just doing the big ol' ruse and he's actually making MGSV Episode 51.
