It looked kinda nice desu. The mood came across quite well with the visuals. If I remember right the controls were a bit clunky at times, but it worked out alright since it didn't interfere with the game's pacing. Mostly it was the constant fear of perma-death that really tied everything together. Entering a dungeon alone and leaving as a group was pretty cool. It tried something most games would never dare to and I think it pulled it off reasonably well.

If you don't like any of them then you should just move on from the genre because there are many different kinds of MMOs. Runescape, EVE, Black Desert Online, Planetside 2, Destiny 2, Rust, ARK, The Division 2, Spiral Knights, etc. all play wildly different from each other and have very different aesthetics to boot, and there are far more MMOs out there along with new ones coming like New World and Plan 8.

All surviving modern MMOs are nothing like older MMOs.

What older MMOs do you mean? Black Desert is like plenty of old Korean MMOs. Rust has the level of sandbox of stuff like Ultima Online. ATLAS looks typical to me. etc.

Can agree. City of Heroes came right before World of Warcraft and it shows. The philosophy is so wildly different. I love it.

I prefer first person MMOs with modern graphics and I played Runescape for the majority of my teenage years. Old MMOs are only liked for the nostalgia.
