I think Cinderace is the second most likely after Urshifu and I think TT's chances are a little overrated. I like Crash who is rates highly in JP polls. And for ARMS I think it's Springman with or without a Ribbon Echo.

1. Geno is actually in the next PM game as DLC or Nintendo just paid a fat licensing fee to SE

2. Someone is remaking SMRPG

3. SE is actually making a new SMRPG game; there is no new PM

The problem with Geno is no one can use the IP. But there is upside, it will generate a lot of conversation which has great short-term marketing potential. It can work but PM does cast a shadow over his chances.

I don't think getting the rights to Geno is a problem. It's just that SE needs to get something out of the deal. This is probably doable.

It does suck that Geno was removed from the remake, but it's possible they opted to do that independently since they didn't have SE staff working with them to say it was OK. I don't think the remake would was handled by Nintendo directly.

Paper Mario would have a unique moveset, unlike Mario and Dr. Mario. They have 3 links and they share moves. Why would nintendo not have 3 marios especially with paper mario having a very different moveset from mario and dr. mario?

I hope it is Cinderace if we do get a Pokemon, since that was my starter.

I agree that PM would play quite differently, and it fits in nicely with the anniversary. But I also think the reaction would be a little muted.

Does anyone else think that from a money-making perspective, that Geno would be the last character added to Smash Ultimate?
Think about it:

1) The majority of Smash players are probably unfamiliar with him, so if he gets revealed mid-cycle, it's not going to be as big a splash
2) It's inevitable that as time goes on, and each new character is revealed, there will be diminishing returns on hype no matter the character
3) If Geno is literally the last character revealed, even though the majority won't care, the hardcore base will go so absolutely apeshit over it, that they'll hype it into the biggest bomb of free advertising ever, maximizing profit.

1. Will spark a huge conversation which creates time-limited marketing value.

2. Could sell the shit out of a market-up Amiibo with moveable joints thanks to a super dedicated fanbase

But also big problems:

1. A lot of DLC value comes from enriching the IP, but it's not clear who if anyone can use Geno.

2. Both Nintendo and SE need to realize some profit off this deal

I think DLC for a Paper Mario game that adds Geno as a partner would be the easiest solution. SE could get all that money, Nintendo keeps the Smash DLC money, and they split the amiibo pot.
