find me a game with more vegetation than KCD, protip: you really can't, like, it's entirely impossible
Find me a game with more vegetation than KCD, protip: you really can't, like, it's entirely impossible
yeah the forests in this game were kino. too bad the game was so unfun.
The OG Cryengine game of course
also
>2007
I don't think any game's gonna top Crysis in terms of vegetation if you can't shoot/slash off individual branches and cut down the trees.
Next step is using the trees for cool stuff in game like making bridges. BotW was close but the actual tech itself was so mediocre and it looks like ass.
Witcher 3 and RDR2 have quite a bit
Im a big fan of Crysis and played it many times but KCD blows Crysis out of the sky in terms of vegetation, although Crysis has more interaction with it (reacting to explosions/shooting at it)
>unfun
How so? I've been playing it this evening and I'm having fun. I'm at the windmill, searching for Timmy.
when you git gud at the combat the rest of the game just becomes a chore
I don't have that problem yet, I get my ass kicked by random strangers lurking in the bushes because I mash right mouse click like an idiot.
Dorf Fort
The whole environment actually feels "real", that's one of the things I like most about KCD.
not him, but the issue is that it takes maybe 20 hours at best to get the best gear, max out some skills and attributes and even less time to have done any action available any having fought any type of enemy
however, the game still continues on and on after all of that and the story is neither especially interesting nor does the story stick to the premise of the game and the game isn't exactly realistic either
and then you are stuck there watching another way too long cutscene with some huge faggot, that you could easily kill, yet you still take orders to go some place that you have already been and yet are forced to kill the same respawned enemies there again...
the ludonarrative dissonance in this game is just way too much
one of those few cases where I really regret putting like 20 hours into it just to realize it was golden turd
Why do all the vegetation shadows look like shit, I cant stand it in 4k. I played KCD on my 980 and run mid-high settings and dint notice now I'm maxed with 4K and it looks like ass
Isn't Dwarf Fortress more of a simulation than a game?
The Hunter.
Fuck you.
>10% the budget of most AAA games
no, the budget was 36.5 million dollars
It's a mix of regular shadow maps, screen-space ambient occlusion, screen-space shadows and voxel global illumination (the one that darkens everything and renders at 1/4th of the resolution, resulting in giant dark pixels in interiors)
>tfw nobody is going to put this much effort into graphics ever again
No
Half Life 2 Cinematic Mod
It literally simulates centuries of history.
Correct, and most AAA games have 300 million+ budgets
what is this 90's 8bit trash?
based
do you live under a rock or are you taking the piss
I would say Bannerlord, but my computer can't run it on ultra, so I can't take a screenshot.
Didn't know "simulation" and "game" were mutually exclusive
can you be any more salty?
That's just my opinion. Maybe it's different for you.
It's just that the game offers very little character progression, literally 0 enemy variety in a largely empty world full of samey locations with replaceable, respawneable npcs that destroy any semblance of stringency, coupled with a skyrim + additional directions simplistic combat system that is only delivering entertainment for a few hours while expecting the player to sith through 20+ hours of cutscenes in a 100+ hour campaign that is neither exactly interesting nor has anything to do with the abosulte boipussy of a player character that is forced upon the player.
Every great game has one or two things that make them enjoyable in the long run, be it loot, character development, exploration, combat, multiplayer, crafting, interesting quests, coherent world etc.
But kingdom come doesn't have anything that really makes it worthwhile after a few hours. You can only look at nice forests an castles for so long.
Though I am sure there are some people that are ok with that.
yes
i actually thought the story was interesting. You had a few very good quests too. There was maybe one quest i thought was stupid (the hallucination one). and a few i was actually surprised how my actions changed how it was played. One example was one where i did the quets one way then died and had to restart because i hadnt saved in a while so i did the quest the other way this time and it opened up an entirely new side story.
Go Google their synonyms, I don't think you'll find them shared.
>boipussy
mentally ill tranny begone
lel no, that's 100m for a big production at most
either way, 36m is already enough to easily pay 200 people in eastern europe for 3+ years and have enough left for everything else
>samey locations with replaceable
Because its set in a time period with little cultural mixing, or at least, little radical cultural mixing and in a very small part of a small kingdom.
You just don't understand the setting, or the history, you're too stupid, unironically, for the game.
>the hallucination one
Which was optional.
>eastern europe
Here we go again, mighty Uncle Sam the Americentrist. Eastern Europe isn't in the Soviet Union anymore, you fucking boomer. They're part of the European Union, and relatively modern. You have to pay them an actual salary.
Or maybe that setting just doesn't make for a good game at that length of playtime.
Just a warning, the game really fucking drags out at the end and dips into not fun quite heavily.
When you get to the bit you think means the game will be ending soon you've still hot hours of shitty combat and grindy fed exing to do.
Or maybe that setting just doesn't make for a good game for people not interested in the genre.
Just a heads-up, I'm but the guy you're arguing with now is someone else. I'm keeping in mind your reply but I'll still play to see how it pans out. So don't bother convincing the other idiot spouting memes.
cmon the devs were all about muh realism, yet the game lacks that realism at any turn possible, worst offender is the retarded respawn mechanic that forced me to clear the same bandit hideout 3 times and because the quests were written in complete ignorance of the actual gameplay mechanics
on the other hand they stuck with the realism in places where it ruined the game, i.e. enemy / location variety, enemy density, world size, annoying little features like being dirty and so on
>that flat sticks texture on the ground
You're memeing right?
OP is a fag, confirmed.
It also sucks that the world starts worshipping the ground you walk on within a few hours of gameplay. I wish the feeling of being a nobody existed for most of the game.
>*takes 2 steps forward while not crouched*
>every deer within a kilometer radius runs away
Beautiful game but fuck this pacing. I don't have time to hold W for 3 hours just for a single kill
user asked about the density of vegetation and you're so autistic you focus on a flat texture.
200 employees for 3 years is already highballing the average salary for czech republic and at the same time lowballing what you can do with 36m
they had a massive fucking team that dwarfs 99% of all the dev teams out there, yet you somehow think it's not AAA
>respawn mechanic
Ah yeah, let's totally not reuse this perfectly good bandit hideout... because... because... eh... mhm...
Also, it's easy to stay clean, just go to the bathhouse, get a clean, fuck a hoe. Pretty simple.
Cause if you do you get fucking bitched at incessantly by the people bankrolling your game.
>36m is already enough to easily pay 200 people in eastern europe for 3+ years
You're a fucking retard and the game was in development for 9 years
Far Cry Primal
this is the only game that have ever come close to meet my fat larper needs
nice copy pasted trees, minimal effort
in that logic wins
Forests in RDR2 look more realistic
>I get my ass kicked by random strangers
enjoy your time then, thats the best part of the game
getting your ass beat by every little fag really keeps you on your toes in every fight
...but then you get gud at the combat and realize theres no high level play in the mechanics and the AI difficulty just plateaus and you keep getting more and more upgrades so you just BTFO everything in front of your sword and it just gets really boring really quick
there is no difference in manhours, regardless of how long it took
36m is fucking massive
obviously some virgin neckbeard that lives of his mothers credit card doesn't understand what 36m actually means in terms of business
also, keep in mind that those huge 100m budgets are 50% marketing, i.e. the actual game isn't much more expensive than kingdom come
>"our game will be so fucking realistic, we totally hired this like uh historian expert dude that is totally not overpaid..."
>"oh yeah, also people don't die in the game when they are killed but they magically respawn at the exact same location"
they betrayed their own design principles and it's fucking annoying as fuck to play something so inconsistent
It's almost like RDR2 was made by a multi-million dollar AAA studio or something.
Using info from: (9 years).
The average salary for a video game designer in the Czech Republic is apparently 604,800 CZK.
604,800 CZK is 24,389.09 USD.
>24,389.09*200=4877818
To pay the average wage for 200 video game designers in the Czech Republic, for a year, would cost 4,877,818 USD.
Now, this salary must be paid for 9 years.
>4877818*9=43900362
That's a total of 43,900,362 USD, just for their salaries.
Just for fun:
>36000000-43900362=-7900362
Meaning, they would be 7,900,362 USD over-budget, just on salaries, for your team of 200 people.
>...but then you get gud at the combat and realize theres no high level play in the mechanics and the AI difficulty just plateaus and you keep getting more and more upgrades so you just BTFO everything in front of your sword and it just gets really boring really quick
You mean like in IRL? :O Whoa, it's almost like they were trying to be realistic!
>like in IRL
IRL you dont become a master swordsman within like a couple days of just learning how to pick up a sword
stop being a fag why are you so butthurt
based
Thats a bullshot, kys retard
Don't rush the game then, faggot, Play it realistically.
T-they're different bandits who moved in, and just happen to look similar, alright?!
what the fuck is there to rush, its a linear game
It does.
I don't see the problem.
