Yeah but the Luminoth invented the screw attack and gave it to the chozo. Because in MP2 Samus's suit didnt recognize the upgrade until she picked it up. Inferring that the Luminoth version is the OG one.

Well Samus did get her suit by beating the chozo god of war in Zero Mission. It was literally gifted to her by a god.

I don't think it was given to her, rather it was just re-installed, or she re-acquired the "password" or the "right of use". You can tell this because it retains all the upgrades and stuff she had on her at the time.

It does? I don't recall it looking much different, although I played it long ago. If you mean the gravity suit that was an expansion already on her ass, and it still had functions as a key.

As I understood it the unknown artifacts were simply old and bugged out, and re-insalling hiegliph un-corrupted the data. I always figured "The Legendary Power Suit" was just a glorfied title for the power suit as a whole. Given that the second volume of the manga dealth with Samus's mental fortitude I figured that she lost her connection with the power suit and she had to go again through the trials necessary to acquire rights from it.

Either ways it doesn't contradict anything. If it really is a second suit then the first one must have been SA0, and the Legendary one must be SA1.

The full name is actually the Fully Powered Suit.

how the fuck do i replay metroid prime series correctly on dolphin and are there any other 2D metroids worth emulating? I've played the NES game, Super, Fusion, the whole Prime Series, Other M. Was tempted to dig out my old 3DS to try and find a copy of the Samus Returns remake but should I just play AM2R? I hear that's pretty good, should I try that?

Emulate the Metroid Prime Trilogy on Dolphin so you can have wide-screen without a hack and can also use WASD + mouse controls. There'd a mod called Prime mod, which enables true WASD + mouse controls (which means fixed cursor), but I think it's more true to stay with a control scheme that's closer to the original. Just set your Wiimote motion to mouse controls in the options menu. (Watch out, there are two mouse controls options. I think the one you need was called "acceleration" instead of "position". Just try both if you're unsure.) Or connect a Wiimote if you happen to have one to your PC and play with true waggle.

You can emulate Samus Returns on Citra on PC. If you find the newest review by The Game Critique on YouTube, there's apparantely a link in the description on how to set up the controls to get the touchscreen stuff working. You can also use HD textures apparently. That said, you'd really help the Metroid series if you just bought the game, as this is the only Metroid game still on sale. You get a neat 3D effect in return.

Also I forgot to mention that you should play AM2R too. Look around Reddit to find the newest version. Fans have continued a bit of the work regarding patches and updates, which the original developer couldn't do because of the DMCA.

Samus Returns and AM2R are two pretty different attempts at remaking Metroid II. And I found both of them worthwhile.

I don't think it'd be that difficult to write around. We've seen that the federation is genuinely benevolent in the series at large (especially in the Prime games), so it'd be easy to write off the group that was fucking around with Metroid cloning and trying to capture the X parasites as being a rogue faction.

Other M was terrible but it wasn't for that reason so you never know, they might take another chance with a third person 3d game.

with the map, collectables, enemy arenas and platforming the game feels very similar to that of a metroid prime game

Echoes was marvellous, it's nice how it stepped out from Super Metroids shadow of which Prime 1 was very much in. I appreciate the commitment to a hostile world too and the Luminoth are my favourite metroid aliens.

I agree. Zero Mission was fine, but on the whole it just felt like a weaker Super Metroid to me, whereas Fusion is entirely its own thing and makes the most of that.

I forget how tall the Luminoth are. It's a nice touch that U'mos always lowered himself to look Samus in the eye.

It's just a shame so many of the doors on Aether are human sized, really they all should have been large like the big ones were on Bryyo

What about this as a plot element?

After all the X parasites and Phazon, Samus’ Chozo genes aren’t all that stable.
While neither of these are in her system anymore, the damage they did has only now started to show itself.
Basically, Samus is slowly dying from the damage that the Phazon and X parasites did to her body. Only now is it starting to really show.
