The game seems good so far but definitely feels like its trying to be half life 2 but with Alyx. It could go either way but seems like an 8 to me.
The VR tech itself? This is my first vr game and I have to say VR is overrated to high heaven and back lol. It's more of a side grade than anything. Half Life Alyx would be just as good in a stand alone non-vr game. The vr in this feels like a gimmick and most of the interactions in the game could have been done in a HL3 without VR. I have an index and am a mega half life fan not a mega vr fan.
This just cements my opinion further. VR is not ready yet. It's a meh experience and try again in 30 years.
then what is this 14:30 youtu.be/KBSokruYsuM?t=870 in my playthrough i picked the little action figure on the back, not the cup
>What's funny is VR should make every players play through unique somewhat. But it's just all scripted moments etc. the objectives are scripted, not what you do
>And they butchered the Half Life story with it. maybe they did but i don't care about half life

Isn't it just a slow shooter with dumb AI? I haven't played it but that's how it is from what I've seen. I mean, it's good for what it is but do you really want other games to turn into this? Does being able to pick objects and see your hands REALLY worth sacrificing the fast paced run and gun gameplay? Would a fast paced shooter like Half Life even work in VR, wouldn't it just fuck up your senses?

I don't think it's good. It has mediocre gameplay based on collecting shit and shooting dumb bullet sponge enemies. Beyond that the interaction with the environment is lacking - I found the physics based puzzles in Boneworks more enjoyable. The story itself is pretty sparse beyond the ending at which point they merely come full circle to retcon Episode 2. If you now think at how much variety and technology Half-Life 1 and its expansion introduced back in their days and compare that to Alyx' lackluster contribution to the VR genre it becomes pretty clear that the game doesn't live from anything but fanboy hype and association with the Half-Life franchise - for which it is a medicore entry. 7/10 at best.
