Why is it so hard?
Why is it so hard?
put it on story mode
You're not actually meant to kill the Magisters inside of Fort Joy.
>spells that summon things
>totem that essentially grants +1 additional attack
>necromancy that heals you for damage you deal
We playing the same game?
The early game can be rough depending on your build.
you can choose 3 npcs, get some roles going.
It’s actually too easy the issue is the game isn’t designed with a hybrid party. You do physical or magic damage, can’t be both.
idk, its why i stopped playing it.
The only times I remember having trouble was the fear scarecrows and the final boss.
2:2 is fine as long as they can all deal damage. It's when you go 3:1 that you're fucked.
Too many ways to mess up your build. Make sure not to put any points into stats that aren't you main kill stat and Wits. Use Loremaster to examine the enemies in the area to see how much Wits they have and get more than them. Initiative is important, getting to act first is always the better option because being able to kill an enemy before they act makes any battle so much easier so I recommend starting with 12 wits at character creation. Only have Constitution for your shield's minimum CON requirement.
Also there's so many skills that feel mandatory after you've got them.
What exactly are you finding difficult?
It’s not that difficult if you build right, think ahead, and utilize element combinations in a tactically sound manner
>it's not that difficult if you use a guide
Shut the fuck up
Holy fucking shit, just do Lone Wolf and make either two two-handed fighter characters or else a two-handed fighter and an archer. That's it. That's all you need to break the game. With that build, you can literally do the port battle at Fort Joy without any planning or subterfuge. You can brute force your way through the entire game.
I want to fuck the red prince.
Shut up retard, everyone knows that all RPG's can be cheesed
The only thing I find annoying is how enemies beeline for my wizards and try to gangbang them first turn they get
>It’s not that difficult if you build right, think ahead
That is incredibly vague advice on a first play through
Is it better to play as Fane or have him as a companion?
You don't need a damn guide. Just read. That's it, read. Reading skills, statuses, and stats. Reading and a little bit of thinking if even.
companion if you care about the pre-history lore he spouts. You won't get a lot of the story if you play as him.
Just play it on explorer mode and enjoy the great storyline
Play as him. He has the best innate source ability and the best storyline.
Well which is it
Do you care about the lore of the eternals? You miss out on like 4 lines of dialogue if you play as him as opposed to having him as a companion.
Also fane can resist deathfog, just smuggle a barrel until the end game boss fight and one shit her
Seriously? How casual are you? The biggest reason I dislike the game is because it's like 10x easier than part 1. Just cheese armor and crowd control like oil and freeze.
You still get the Source ability with him as a companion. The default player source regenerating bubble shield makes so many fights easier, especailly when you want to protect an NPC.
Apotheosis>Time warp>Daggers Drawn(Next Turn)>Skin Graft (if you want to daggers drawn again)>Adrenaline>Mortal Blow will one shot everything except for the hydra. Scoundrel is OP as fuck.
>acquire this at end of act 2
>win
I think I know the problem that many newbies have with this game.
>hit/shoot enemies with your dude
>does a lot of dmg, is nice and comfy
>keep doing it for a while
>at some point realize game is really hard
>you've also gained two levels
>go and visit the town and buy a new weapon for your dude
>you now do 50% more damage because your weapon is 2 levels higher than the previous one
Especially when money is kind of hard to come by too unless you really make thieving your second dayjob. Double especially because you ALSO have to keep on updating your other gear too constantly because of the dumb armor system. Triple especially because you can't just keep crafting new weapons like in DOS1.
Crafting is even more broken in DOS2
>still haven't defeated the void nigger dragon and his band of merry skeltals
What the fuck do I even do, even when I found the alternate path and progressed it's still a fucking stupid fight
Void dragon? What act is this in
He's talking about the first time you meet a voidling in fort joy. He's just bad at the game.
I just want to know what fight this actually refers to. There is only 1 actual dragon fight, but it's easily avoidable since you have to intentionally initiate that fight by attacking a non hostile character, and it has no other enemies involved anyways.
Oh you mean the Ice dragon? Spoilers ahead
He is just another way to get to the Alexander fight. There is like 4 ways to get to it. you don't have to do it and can just kill him if you want to but you should try talking to him before you attack.
I’ve had the game over a year and still can’t get out of fort joy and still can’t get past the first fight you get into
I know about all that, I'm just curious as to what the void "dragon" and skeleton fight is
I might be because I got used to the system in OS1 but I never found this one that difficult. Sure, you die every now and then, especially on the first playthrough, but that's part of the learning process. Either find something else to do to get stronger or brute force the fight with different strategies until one works. The game seldomly throws mandatory encounters that are above your level. If you run into an area with overleveled enemies there's most likely something you can do to earn xp in other areas. You can get quite far just talking to people and exploring (at least during the initial fort joy capture). The difficulty is also very frontloaded and as you level up and obtain more options things start getting easier for the most part. Good luck.
I had to savescum some fights, but overall it was challenging but not hard (except for the final battle where you're subject to a whole AoE fest until you finally get to move). You have to realize spacing is extremely important, and getting both teleport abilities on all your characters makes fights significantly easier. Using a party of just 2 characters with lone wolf also seems easier than using a full party of 4, trying this now on my 2nd playthrough. Also this game is bad for item hoarders, I think my inventory crashed the game a couple of times.
It's right after you get out of fort joy and start exploring the island. A voidling teleports into a fight you're having with a bunch of skeletons.
Out in the swamps there's a large voidwoken up on a cliff. If you get too close to him he'll summon up some skellies (2 mages, 2 warrior and an archer if memory serves) and initiate battle. During the fight the voidwoken teleports around spreading cursed surfaces and dealing pretty high damage. I think that's the fight that user referred to. I can understand someone having trouble with the fight but it should be beatable given enough attempts.
We arent pc cheater kiddies and dont have to play the easiest way to finish a game.
Easiest way to cheese this fight is to teleport the voidwoken into the burning pigs area. He'll be stuck there for 2 turns while you deal with the skeletons.
Oh for fuck sake. I didn't think of that, I was wondering what the hell resembles a dragon. Didn't think it would be the fish monster
I don't really get how. I mainly use it to craft special arrows and upgrade runes.
multiclass your guys. If you concentrate on one specific role you're going to max out your skills halfway through the fame and be dumping the rest in defence skills and constitution, which isn't all that useful unless you're playing a tank.
Warriors benefit from Polymorph because it gives them an extra stat point to dump in constitution and they get neat movement/attack spells.
Archers get decent at archery fairly quickly so it's a good idea to multiclass as a summoner and make them a utility class.
Rogues want some polymorph for Chameleon so they can go invisible.
Find combinations that synergise and you'll have an easier/more fun time.
Just murder everyone you see. You will level up fast and most npcs carry a spell or two on them so you should have most of the spells you need by the end of act 1. This is what I have been doing as I found the characters and plot uninteresting, something about Highlander "There can only be one" with gods and void niggas idk but the best way to get good at fighting is to just fight everyone.
As long as you have enough adrenaline books, putting like 1 or 2 points into it is 100% worth it for every single type of class.
Another way is to go around, approaching it from the slope area to the left of the voidwoken's cliff. You can bait the encounter and move back which forces all the enemies into a nice chokepoint.
>a two-handed fighter and ranger are big-brain builds for zoomer consolefags
Holy fuck. I have no faith in the Baldurs Gate 3 anymore.
Adrenaline is fucking amazing. Have it on all my chars. It alongside executioner and I've been ending 99% of fights after the big boss have their one turn. After that my Ranger kills 2-3 , then Necro/Aero teleports people and kills another 2 with corpse boom finally clean up done by Rogue and 2 hander.
Lmao jesus christ this. I literally right click people and they die as ranger. Not even playing as elf with muh blood arrows.
Someone who's only planning to play through both Divinities here, I have a question - is it possible to go through the games as a full-wizard party? I just love wizards to death even if it's challenging, Legend of Grimrock is one example in that regard.
>is it possible to go through the games as a full-wizard party?
Absolutely
Oh fuck yes, thank you. Shaping up to be one of my most beloved series already.
I feel like I got lucky. I'm not the kind of person to min/max builds. Ended up with a very balanced party where I'd usually end up barely making it out of fights if I really went hard on strategizing and positioning. That's what I want out of an RPG.
It's not even challenging unless you go full retard and have all of them be one element. First game is piss easy with magic especially if you get teleport (hell same thing for 2nd). as for second same but requires slightly more thought, i'd still get adrenaline and also don't get savage sortilege until act 3.
It isn't. The original sin games are actually pretty easy compared to other crpgs.
