I mostly meant as a reoccurring main cast addition character ala Bowser Jr. or Rosalina. Nabbit sorta fits, I suppose.

Odyssey was weird as fuck though with the whole ghost possessing thing and the Broodals. If those wind up being reoccurring, those can sorta count as main cast kinda like how the Koopalings are.

Not to be the devil's advocate, but that's still more than what Daisy got despite her also being "part of the main cast".

It's not that she isn't main cast it's just that the picture is really cheeky.

I think New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe pretty much solidified that and her appearing more often in recent games. Feels like they're trying out several characters to see which one sticks. First it was Nabbit, then it was Rosalina, now Toadette. Wonder if they're feeling audacious enough to even throw a new character considering they're taking advantage of the ones they already have despite Nabbit, Toad and Toadette being of smaller importance compared to the Mario Bros and just overall there for smaller character variety.

Would be interesting seeing if they could ever pull a character bigger than Mario or Luigi in a regular platformer. Rosalina was sorta that considering she's surprisingly tall compared to the rest.

Is that really fair to say? I get that they were created one game before Yoshi was introduced, but the Koopalings disappeared for several years. During that time Yoshi made several appearances in the main series.

Rosalina is part of the main cast for the simple reason that she appeared in a mainline title. Geno is standing where Toadette should be since she's an honorary mainline character now. The Koopalings are as well but they're clutter in line ups.

I'm afraid they'd make a new villain feel generic nowadays with it being evil and the cartoon style not help making it actually threatening. They could pull off a anti-protagonist or "hero" that neither fits Mario's side or Bowser's side that could still get in the way of things that could potentially be a villain as well. You know, having that duality Bowser has as well in that he can become either the villain or the hero.

geno should be a recurring part of the cast and every time geno isn't on screen everyone should be asking 'wheres geno?'
he also needs to be louder, angrier and have access to a time machine

I understand that Luigi's Mansion is a spin-off, but it's special in that the characters made an impact on the main series and other spin-offs.

i really wish bowser was a recurring, playable character. just about every time he's been playable he's been the funnest character TO play as, from shit like his BiS combat system, to running around wildly at the end of odyssey, even down to simple shit like his basic mannerisms in the party spinoffs.
of course then they need a different villain in that situation- the issue is it'd have to be something bigger and more threatening than bowser while not being overly edgy- and the problem with that is since he's taken over entire universes the only thing thats ever stood over him is interdimensional monsters or eldritch darkness gods and those tend to be edgier than red and black tinted shit
what would be a goofy enough superboss for mario that would still be a reasonable threat to a gigantic demon turtle that enslaves entire planets for giggles and shits?

You don't need to make a villain bigger than bowser, you just need to make a villain that would be a common enemy to bowser and [heroes].
