the DLC is called the black sea, it has some of the best dialogue in the game, you start it at level 15 i think? in the docks of core city, and and depending who you side with it can be frustrating but rewarding
also, a piece of advice that i ignored when i went into it for the first time, GENOCIDE THE NATIVES AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, don't make my mistake and let them live thinking there's some lore or quests related to them.
And the shotguns are fucking anywhere, with enough persuassion you'll get a shotgun at your starting weapon, i think you need 30, but to get the shotgun belt you'll have to wait a long fucking time

Get the DLC, get the shotguan, go to the black see, get existential crisis and embrace daosit philosophy, play as a hammer wizard

SMG build is arguably the most powerful fun build, provided you pick the correct feats/stats.

Wizard hammer is a meme build promoted by one of the Underrail autists always lurking this board. That being said wizard (psi) builds are all overpowered no matter what route you go with it.

is this underrail? i downloaded it the other day, but not the dlc. is the base game still good enough? the game looks long enough as is.

any tips before starting? ive never played one of these types of games.

Make a specialized build. Crossbows/Psi is probably the most noob friendly. Get the DLC because it adds a lot to the game.

dlc is the only worthwhile content

The game is better than any fallout game gameplay wise. The world is also cool. Just don't expect there to be much to do than explore and kill shit. No really memorable quests except for one that i was never able to complete.

Check out some build strategies. Can't just try and be a master of all. DLC is a must.

Finding one of those fancy frames with low AP and the right perks can net you a few bursts in one turn. Doing this with an assault rifle, too and it's pretty fucking great to spray down rows of muties. Wish I could make shotguns not shit without perks but I'm already spread thin as it is.

Down at the docks. The exhibition leaves from there. Can't remember of the top of my head but you need to complete one of a few missions.

A standalone campaign, appart from the base game, probably will be another game with it's own engine. I also assume you have to buy it too.
Long story short the story will be based on Hexagon. That's pretty much Styg told us.

Get the DLC, allows you to use shotguns and spears.
Make a specialized build on something, try to complement your shortcomings.

I'm kind of miffed that we didn't get spearguns
or at least a unique speargun that's really a rifle

There's a spear unique that is a plasma gun within a spear

if underrails time table is anything to go buy then don't get too excited yet.

i feel like thsi game is designed for me but the lack of UI scaling prevents me from seeing anything, im very nearsighted

It is, but the expansion makes it better, there is no reason not to get it, it adds skills, weapon types, areas, quests, lore, some interactions with the base game quests, unique weapons, and boosts the level cap by 5 adding specialization points for your feats
