Most of the game is wandering around empty maps with maybe a shitty quest or generic encounter thrown in

>Most of the game is wandering around empty maps with maybe a shitty quest or generic encounter thrown in
This shit is as bad as modern open world games. Why is the first Baldur's Gate such a piece of shit?

Glad someone else agrees, it's the worst IE game
>BGII > IWD > PST > IWDII > BG

Because retards love the illusion of choice.

>you can do everything!
>but you'll better make a viable party and fight the enemies in the correct order or you're fucked
BG is one of the most overrated games in history. BG2 is decent tho.

well, you clearly have short attention spans and need fast changing blinking images
this game is not for you, go play fortnite zoomie

You suck at this game

>he's actually defending the worst IE game.
Explain how Fallout manages to be so much better than BE despite coming out a year before.

game 2 gets better because enemies are more interesting but the quests will pretty much all be the same

So you can beat the 7HD enemies with your starting party? Tell me your secrets.

Baldurs Gate 1 is like Dragons Dogma.

The feeling of adventure and wilderness.

OP did you get gang banged by a couple of wolves? bears? lvl 1 bandits? which one was it?
BG is the best IE game because it has the perfect combination of atmosphere, writing, pacing and gameplay.

Git gud
Also the literal handful of tough enemies are blocked between plot progression
If you suck so bad at this game, go watch korax kill basilisks and congratulations, you can now do literally everything else

Because you're a faggot

I wish the game would gang bang me with encounters more. At least something would be happening then.

Anybody remember the island of furries? Did you get really upset at the special surprise after you return to mainland?

That's BG2. Better city, better art, better world, better pacing, better fights

Infinity Engine games are really badly dated at this point, play Kingmaker or Pillars of Eternity or Orginal Sin 2

I know you're retarded, but I never said the game is hard.

>just do the stuff in the "correct" order
So you agree with me now? OK.

Isn't it weird how nobody seems to know what the end of BG1 is like?

It's almost as if 100% of players give up within three hours of playtime, but still feel motivated to argue about those three hours. Why?

it's what a standard WRPG should be. No fancy environments and cross-genre references, just green, gold, brown and grey.

define "end"
Candlekeep Crypts, Undercellar and Temple of Bhaal?
Durlag?
Werewolf Island?

that's because BG1 sucks once you reach Baldur's Gate.

No you literal mongoloid
You know I've got better things to do than trying showing the obvious to dishonest 14 years old and other complete retards, like playing Baldurs Gate. Go fuck yourself, you stupid fuck.

It has some of the best encounters of all the IE games, you just have to explore the areas.
If you're looking for a linear on-rails epic high level fantasy adventure then just play BG2 instead, you evidently don't care about well thought out pacing and going from noob to demigod.

Honestly there's nothing really important happening in BG1 other than you being a Bhaalspawn and Sarevok being a dick. So I don't blame anyone who forgot about it.

Three terrible games mentioned in a single post, congratulations.

>make a lvl 1 mage
>"this is your ugly as sin sister, imoen"
>"ok"
>travel
>RNG ambush
>6-8 bandits vs 1 mage and 1 thief
>"just savescum bro"
Great game indeed.

>literally no argument
>I'm right but too busy to explain why, cya nerd!
Don't worry, I accept your concession. Your only argument support my claim after all.

>that one Dmod where you get carried by a level 16 Drizzt and Wulfgar as they push the shit in of demons, greater wolfweres and vampires

Attached: 1495231587423.jpg (1122x1080, 59.66K)

People like OP are very obvious DOS2 zoomers.

Attached: Fallout 2 gameplay.png (963x1025, 149.25K)

keep seething nostalgiafag

Also no good gameplay or writing or really any good design at all, definitely your standard crpg shit.

>bringing up savescumming when I didn't even mention it
Nice strawman, homo.
>6-8 bandits
>at lvl 1 with a party total of 2
sounds like someone played the cultural enrichment edition and thinks they experienced Baldur's Gate

BG1 is the only CRPG that I've finished, arrow spam was so much fun. I tried BG2 but I couldn't get into it.

random encounters are based on the party leader's CHA score
If you dump CHA, you're going to get raped at level 1 on screen transition

>getting upset at the opinions of actual children

What? I don't recall that at all.

I hate Imoen and I hate Minsc

Funny enough the EE toned down and delayed these encounters. Guess you played neither of them.

>all these retards getting filtered by BG after seeing the epic dragon nuGate 3 trailer.

Attached: 1491724550614.jpg (447x438, 22.7K)

>make lvl 1 mage
>attack wolf
>die
Great game nerds.

Chances he mean the expansion pack. I barely remember it but I'll swear it was about some island with werewolves.

Imoen is a cutie, shame about her in-game art.

you're supposed to run away and get to the friendly arm inn

>and I hate Minsc
Tell me. I always hated that retarded faggot while most people like the retarded "for the eyes boo!" stuff.

buttkicking for justice!

So is right?

Yeah, it might be for Tales of the Sword Coast only. It's also missable if you don't talk to the guy who starts it.

how fucking bad are you at the game?
you can literally solo the game as a mage like i did.

No, there are several ways to play BG and you can go in any order if you know what you're doing

Playing BGEE right now. Do I install all the add-ons now or are they separate campaigns?
Also, does BG2 let you swap party members?

Lol you got absolutely BTFO

>Imoen is a cutie, shame about her in-game art

What? Her portrait literally is her

As a tragic character who suffers from brain damage and this causing him to be delusional I think he's pretty ok. The LOL XD SPEES HAMSTER is really annoying though.

your voice is ambrosia

>fight the low level enemies in any order so you can fight the mid level enemies in any order so you can fight the high level enemies in any order
Yea, plenty of liberty there.

>The LOL XD SPEES HAMSTER is really annoying though.
it's fun, let go of your 4chanian cynicism

Montaron I...I never loved you

Sword Coast just adds onto the game while Dragon Spear and Black Pits are their own things from what I understand, and they're more combat focused so feel free to skip them.

No shit sherlock.

>zoomers actually believe skyrim level scaling is good

cant wait to fight those bandits with daedric armor

you can go straight to high level enemies if you know how to play the game, are you retarded?

Whatever you do DO NOT play Siege of Dragonspear.

Siege of Dragonspear takes place after you beat BG1. Most people recommend skipping it though. You're better off just going to BG2

WRPGs in general are shit. They try to copy the DnD style but they fail miserably at capturing it because pen and paper is not supposed to be an on rails experience. And the real time pause shit is gay as hell. Either make it turn based like the pen and paper game actually is or make it actually real time.

durlag's tower is still the most fun, pulpy, pure old school dnd dungeon crawl ever made

but the traps...the traps...

Attached: hcer5nnct5p31.png (1000x561, 415.5K)

>skyrim level scaling is good
Care to quote me saying that? Else I'll assume you're mentally challenged.

>you can cheese the game once you learn the encounters
Woah! So still stands? OK.

You can cheese the game on your first playthrough if you really want to, I wouldn't recommend it but whatever

>"you can't turn DnD into a non-turn based game guys, it just doesn't work"
>Baldur's Gate and spinoffs proceed to become legendary games, influencing dozens of works, beloved by many fans
>"BUT SERIOUSLY GUYS IT DIDN'T WORK"

Okay so I need to install sword coast now. Is the save compatible or would I need to start over?

Thanks in advance.

i agree, SoD wasn't good and there's really no point to playing it.
i would recommend playing tales of the sword coast though, i had tons of fun in durlags tower and ice island/maze. Werewolf island was fun too but i kinda disliked one combat the one in the shipwreck

You get three party members on the very first fucking map if you just follow the road for a minute. How dumb can you be?

real talk, rtwp sucks donkey dick

not him but what kind of learning disability do you have?

Okay zoomer.

>You can cheese the game on your first playthrough if you really want to
Not really. Unless you read a guide. You learn trial and error, but guess you fags don't remember a world without internet.

Where's your argument, bro?

What do you mean by Sword Coast? There's Tales from the Sword Coast which was an addon to the original BG, but it's included in the EE. If you mean Sword Coast Stratagems for whatever reason, you shouldn't install it on your first run unless you love to suffer.

the internet existed when BG came out, what the fuck are you on about you retarded subhuman

SO I KICKED HIM IN THE HEAD TIL HE WAS DEAD HAHAHA

I hate how he's become the mascot of the franchise, he got his own comic, and rumors are that he'll show up in 3. Doesn't help that Minsc is mechanically speaking, a very bad character.
>A worse frontline tank than Khalid
>Will kill companions with berserk ability if you're not careful
>Exists in a game with Kagain and Ajantis.
>Is downright worse at combat than the archer units Kivan and Coran
And in 2
>Completely outclassed in the 2H sword department by Keldorn
>Outclassed by Korgan
>Outclassed by Sarevok
>Outclassed by Anomen and his DUHM
>No personal quest, and becoming Aerie's protector means he will berserk if she gets injured

He's just all-around annoying and weak to use. If was at least a top-tier character I would put up with his stupidity. But an annoying ranger that's also mechanically shit? Nah, I don't need to deal with that in my life. Good VA, though.

Existed, yes? Common in homes before 2000? No. But obviously you don't know that.

There used to be some site with what I recall had like, nothing but text and like no formatting. But it listed all the essential mods and the fanmade bugfixes for Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2, widescreen mods, and all kinds of other stuff
I am pretty certain I had it bookmarked but that was several computers ago and I can no longer find it. And unlike in the past googling this shit just drowns you in """""enhanced edition""""" garbage, making it super annoying to find mods or anything about the original games. And even when I do find fanpatches for Baldur's Gate, they're for BG2 in particular. What are the essential mods for BG1 then?

The enhanced crap really ruined everything.

Are there any decent forgotten realms books? I remember reading a couple of books about Drizzt by some guy with a spanish last name, it was pretty gut.

why would i have an argument?
even if you had posted anything factual, i still wouldn't be in the argument you're having.

>I don't have an argument so I don't want to argue
OK, concession admitted. Next!

the only people playing BG on release were grognards and most of them had internet

how common does something have to be to be considered "common"?
everyone i knew in 96 used internet at home.

>Baldur's Gate fans
>can recall dozens of memorable good, interesting, humorous moments

>Larianfags
>yeah I found that guy with the moustache funny

>Common in homes before 2000?
Are you from a third world country or something? It was mainstream by 1995

post something factual about the game and i might argue against it. i won't be arguing about complete nonsense and/or lies.
arguments are retarded if lies are allowed.
i do have a serious question though, did you even play the game? it sounds like you are either baiting/trolling or didn't play the game.

You don't like red haired little sisters?

Attached: Imoen Romance.jpg (1125x1600, 521.8K)

Oh I meant Tales from the Sword Coast. Thanks for the answer.

Fun game so far, I like how you have so many companions to choose from.

Yeah, I see what you mean now by google being shit for this. I'm trying to find a site that had a bunch of mods for older CRPGs, but I can't seem to find it anymore. Thought I had bookmarked it, but I guess not.

Popular doesnt mean it accomplished the goal of emulating it.

I played it at release so did most of my friends (tabletop RPG and or Warhammer players). In my circle only a couple of guys had internet.

>Are you from a third world country or something?
First world by definition, but no, I'm no American. Here internet wasn't common in homes until early 2000. Late 90s was slow and pricey, so most people stick to net-cafes or LAN parties for multiplayer.

BGEE is garbage
Don't believe for a second you are playing the game the developers intended you to play. BG2 rules in BG completely ruins everything.

>I have no argument but if I keep replying I "win"
OK retard.

>I played it at release so did most of my friends
lol no you didn't, you wouldn't be complaining about it so much if you played BG way back then
