Its good. Some will debate if its better than the original XCOM or XCOM Enemy Within, but its solid.
Note that it has a lot of expansion content worth playing. The basic expansion pass adds a good amount of stuff to the game, but the War of the Chosen expansion is like a whole new level atop that.
Note that there is a really fantastic mod for the XCOM series (XCOM1 Enemy Within and XCOM2) called "The Long War", which adds a fuckload of mechanics, depth etc. For XCOM2, there's a Long War 2 but that's only without the War of the Chosen expansion. For a long time it wasn't updated to be compatible, but thankfully now there's a "Long War of the Chosen" mod which is - I think - up to date with the latest version.
