>what did Rockstar get right?
Judging by their history, not even Rockstar knows the answer to that.
pure cringe
>Semi-Auto Pistol
Gaaaaaay
Well if the opponent just blocked the dp on wake up it woulda been shit
>satisfying
>posts the shitty multiplayer version
Lots of scripted animations that take 5+ seconds per button press to make you think you're experiencing great gameplay to break up the awful shooting.
Rockstar desperately need to make a Medieval setting next. They're a scottish dev for fuck sakes.
Make a god damn highland warrior gta. You drag witches behind your horse to the stake.
Their slow physical immersive animation sim game engine would be perfect for a pseudo souls like with even more weighty realism to combat.
Seriously they've already got half that game built, just take out the guns and put crossbows and bows instead and make it mostly melee.
I just want to ride down on longshanks man and skullcrush them wiht my warhammer
semi auto is the white man's choice.
i would love this too, rockstar has already shown how well they can do a historical setting. and i bet that they don't want to be known as the GTA dudes for the rest of their lives.
>i would love this too, rockstar has already shown how well they can do a historical setting
ha?
i don't want "historical accuracy" from video games because people will always mess something up. what i want to see more is to just depict these historical people as humans, and that's what RDR2 did. all the civilians have unique clothing, they have schedules, they react to your presence and so forth. i just want to see a similar approach to the medieval setting.
Pistols have been the nigger's choice since RDR
Real men use the LeMat, especially now that you can grapeshot a cunt who thinks he's going to go Native on you with an axe
Rockstar is 1 gen ahead of every other publisher
Shame T2 keeps pushing braindead casual shit into the games but I suppose it's the price you pay for unlimited budget
Looks like yet another 3rd person """"""""""game"""""""" with mushy movement, floaty animations and mind numbingly boring not-quicktime events for melee combat
You're a mentally ill console-owning subhuman that never experienced good shooting.
well, that's what current gen is capable of. also the melee combat doesn't have QTE's.
with the right settings the shooting feels a lot better than in many other games.
But it isn't
All you do is aim in, flick the right stick up a little bit then pull the trigger. The shooting feels good because of sound and smoke, and the sick walking animation
>i don't want "historical accuracy" from video games because people will always mess something up. what i want to see more is to just depict these historical people as humans, and that's what RDR2 did. all the civilians have unique clothing, they have schedules, they react to your presence and so forth.
ok now this is epic
Powerful, brave, and feminine!
>the melee combat doesn't have QTE's.
It basically is that, you just press the right buttons near an enemy, your character snaps into the canned animation and you just watch the fight play out.
>chairs don't even move
THE LITTLE DETAILS!!!
the thing is that unless there is an absolute metric ton of archaeological evidence and multiple sources backing it up there cannot be certainty for what happened during these historical times. libraries burn, greedy people twist the truth, treasures get looted. the truth is that we have a very warped sense of our history and we are just now starting to scratch the surface with our new technology.
>scripted animations
As opposed to natural animations? Jesus Christ, you fags are fucking retarded.
I want a 1930s GTA mafia game with LA Noire's investigation mechanics
Melee combat was really good in RDR2, one of the things that it got right. The shooting is pathetic.
dude, RDR is as historical than a western Spaghetti. Those movies were their main reference. Period.
ha, yes...
>enemies wait for their turn to get beat up
Incredible!
ITT: rockstar bootlicker vehemently trying to defend his game's fucking awful gameplay
Why do popular games make Yas Forums seethe?
even Ass Creed 1 was less terrible with this.
that was a scripted event, if you try this in open world they will gang up on you.
Why was it so bad bros?
They got the animation right it controls like pure ass though.
Rockstar knows its easier to get great reviews and tons of sales by adding in lots of useless tertiary features that have no bearing on the actual game than improving on how the game really plays. It would get points for T E C H N O L O G Y if the quirky stuff they try to add was actually good quality and not half baked time wasters.
SHAKY CAMERA! SOOOOOOOOOO REALISTIC!!!
Meh, Max Payne 3 had better gunplay.
Spotted the nintendies.
So you would play as a detective or what?
Max Payne 4 fucking when.
>why is RDR2 combat so satisfying? what did Rockstar get right?
It's not, but they do throw an INSANE amount of money on their games - the sheer amount of money poured into animations alone and the tech behind it is mindboggling.
It plays like shit, controls like shit, because they are far more interested in making it look like a movie, but it does look really like a high-quality movie, and some people, like you, are completely satisfied with that.
Max did his time. A new IP with MP3's gameplay would be better.
I remember people saying the PC port is fucked, is this still true?
I'll never understand pistols in PvE content. The only time I use pistols is PvP - and then it's double Mausers time.
Kind of. The game's performance as still unreasonably bad at times, but at least it doesn't crash anymore. Online is incredibly glitchy though, but who cares about that lol
i like the c93 because it's more likely to make enemies bleed to their death.
Because of the massive autoaim even faggots like you could hit shit.
>cowboy game
>not using a revolver
Have they fixed the D/C error yet?
When you wanna win, you don't take into account if you're looking "cowboyish" enough while doing it. Ironically the best sidearms for PvP are anything BUT revolvers - namely either pistols or double sawn-off shotguns.
>not using a mod menu
MOONFACE GO BACK TO /RDRG/ YOU FUCKING FULKING CUMP I SWEAR TO GOD
Yes, being a cheating small dicked faggot is very cool. For the entire 2-3 weeks before getting flushed out down the toilet.
>getting this mad over cheaters
>he recognizes the shitposter
you go first.
Don't tell me you actually play to win in those PvP gamemodes scraped from bottom of the barrel, like being competitive in RDO or any GTA game has any meaning at all.
RDO's content is bland and rockstar didn't support it well enough
double barrel shotgun is the only satisfying weapon i've used in the game
it's not satisfying though. i liked the game dont get me wrong but the combat, the shooting specifically, was fucking boring.
i expected something a bit like this:
>youtube.com
>youtube.com
being a bullet sponge mowing down endless hordes of enemies is not fun. there was nothing new in terms of combat here.
the shootouts should have been more dynamic and more dangerous.
cover should get shredded to pieces around you, bullet holes with light shining through should form if your hiding behind a table or something, you should be able to blast through doors and walls and your character should take damage that manifests physically. so for example: you get shot in the arm? well now you can only use one arm until you bandage up or you walk/run with a limp from getting shot in the leg etc etc. not every battle should end with you killing everybody some should end with you barely making an escape and if youre wounded you have to find something to heal yourself with within a certain amount of time or you bleed to death. i want to feel like my protagonists life is in peril and that the effects of a shootout are meaningful in the game world. it might seem like a lot to ask for but in this day and age it's what we should have, not gameplay mechanics from the ps2 era. where is the innovation?
the game was visually stunning though and really well built ill give them that. it definitely felt alive and the amount of detail was great. combat was definitely lacking though, i liked the melee/close quarters stuff they added but it was just way too easy all the time i got bored
i agree, that style would fit well with the "last of our kind are being hunted" theme
Agree with everything you mentioned, really good ideas.
>not every battle should end with you killing everybody some should end with you barely making an escape and if youre wounded you have to find something to heal yourself with within a certain amount of time or you bleed to death
I like that idea a lot. Escaping on your horse barely alive about to fall off. Find an abandoned cabin treat your wounds. Comfy
I also dont like that they took away the save when you sleep mechanic, saving whenever makes everything less dangerous. The stakes of entering into a gunfight aren't high anymore
