Biggest danger of a pandemic is the effect it has on the fabric of society. Perception has a strong influence on societal stability. We can meme all we want about being enlightened shut-ins shitposting on a Mongolian basket-weaving picture site, but unless you're one of those survival hardcore /k/ types who stocked on years worth of MREs that would make Steve blush with joy, we're probably just as vulnerable to the ripple effect that the pandemic holds.
