Adulthood. I genuinely had fun playing vanilla again, and a part of me wishes that I could just play it 8 hours a day and fuck around with the lads. However, a combination of boring adult shit and meaningful adult shit makes it impossible to justify. If classic came out when I was still in my late teens I would've probably played the absolute shit out of it. It goes without saying, but playing vanilla in moderation is impossible (at least for me).

The issue is people had goggles on. Then forgets that Classic was an imbalanced heap of shit that was popular by being the basic entry MMO for tards. Everquest punished you hard for dying instead of a 10% durability loss. Ultima Online punished you even harder. SWG was a fucking obscene grindtastic sperg fest.
WoW just lacks any secrets now. Classic TBC, which is likely the route they'll go, will be no different. None of the cool early specs will work because tryhards cried about Shadow Priests and Ele/Enh shamans being competitive with mages so now only mages and locks will top DPS charts the entire expansion.
Mood. I mean, like, dont get me wrong, it's fun to go on a nostalgia trip to simpler times, but the reality is that we have adulting to do. We just dont have time to play children's games, as much as we might want. My husband and I still make room for our own little silly sunday, though, lol. We set up pillow forts in the living room and play switch together under the blankets. It's so cute, and it totally let's us wind down and get ready to head back to the office on monday. I dont think we'd have as much fun if we played something like wow instead. Oh well, the way I look at it is, we may not be kids anymore but at least we dont have any!!

regarding transfers and merging:
look at skeram and stalagg (nonstreamer servers). activision added free transfers for all servers they deemed full and a bunch of alliance transferred off of skeram/stalagg because they were 40% ally 60% horde and then they dropped into 20 to 30% ally territory. blizzard realized that they made a mistake and transfers should have been horde-only on horde heavy realms but it was too late when they implemented it, and then all of those alliance players paid to transfer to servers like incendius because skeram/stalagg auction house was dead and they couldn't go out into the world because they were outnumbered 3:1 and had to die 15 times to get to brd. dungeon groups were nonexistent as well on alliance. they had no choice but to reroll or pay for a transfer if they wanted to play with other people in a mmo because of blizzard making dumb decisions.
also do you have a source that bwl was tested? they only added the ptr just recently after the shitshow that was bwl

What kinda fag RPs outside of an RP server? Half the grob players don't even RP. As for losing BGs, it's essentially because Alliance players have given up all hope of winning from utter garbage weeks and weeks of PVP. I'm up to knight-captain now and in all my weeks of playing, my highest win-streak in AV is 2. My longest lose-streak is 14. Alliance is just flat out unfiltered garbage in BGs, to the point where whole servers or just the faction in general across the board has adopted a 'we know we aren't going to win so just try to lose profitably' mindset. It's painful to watch and play through and you must have experienced it too if you're Alliance.

It's a combination of several things. I am a class lead for a sucsessful raiding guild since launch. The behaviors I've seen from players has been simply atrocious. Running our alt raid is an effort in patience, the few pugs we pick up are usually unprepared. They never have flasks or food or pots. They don't understand mechanics, dont dispell/decurse and hotmic in a raid of 40 people. Even "hardcore" players often do not have their professions maxxed, if they bothered to get anything beyond herbalism and mining, and are profoundly ignorant as to why that is a problem. The vast majority of players arent exaulted woth the pvp factions either and expect to get gear to compensate (ie casters rolling on mageblade when they dont have the av offhand). The adverage player does not have resist gear, and they dont bother to go for useful blues out of easily farmed dungeons.
What's worse is that every dps starlet thinks they have absolute right to gear, despite spending the majority of the raid on the floor. Every single person I've spoken to who quit didnt actually play the game and just expected to be handed shit like retail. It disgusts me. PvP is a fucking mess and thats a fault of shitty players too. The situation on pvp servers is a direct result of the MEMEMENOWNOWNOW crowd. Tok sum up, dumb niggers dont want to play the game. They just want to chill in IF/ORG with their purples. ffs, I'm so tired of casuals.
i've never played on an rp server but i was under the impression you weren't allowed to post ooc shit like "lose fast to minmax". but yeah ally is really fucking bad. most of them are keyboard turning 60% mount alts that don't understand how the bg works or where horde appears if they capture a gy or what happens if we lose a gy. they look at our raid comp and see 2 shadow priests, a feral druid, and 2 ret paladins and spam "go ibgy" and then just lose 50% of their team to horde on the way there, lose shgy, and then get wiped at ibgy when horde get 20 resses off at a time in the cave. a lot of them just stand behind the fighting and soak HKs too. horde players actually blink/charge in to aoe fear or just arcane explosion while trash ally mages just stand back frostbolting a tank.

Ehh, the rules are loose as all fuck. Honestly about 70% of the population, more even, doesn't RP at all and you'll see the same retarded shit as any other server. RP servers however tend to have less of it and much more laid back attitudes because there are several unenforced rules that can get you into deep shit if you get reported. Crashing RP, for example, or even having a non-RP name, can lead to forced name changes or bans. And the way the system works is if you receive 4-6 reports in a short period, you're almost guaranteed to have that stuff reviewed by a customer support person. So rolling up to an RP just to get naked and spam shit in /say can and has already got people flat out temp-banned when 15+ reports suddenly drop on them. So the retarded crap tends to stay in genchat and out of /say or /yell, which makes the server much more laid back in a way.
The beginning of the end was TBC with class homogenisation, non-faction specific classes, raid finder and cross-realms. People who came after vanilla will shitpost me, but this is the truth; the writing was on the wall at the first expansion.
Honestly most people who are still in classic share that opinion. I know loads of people who are saying 'If they do Classic-BC, I'm dropping the game' because they don't want any of that crap back. I did enjoy BC and even some of LIch, but everything that went wrong in WoW started with BC and I have no interest in re-treading that 12 year path.

Which bosses are you having everyone use resist sets on? Shazz is easy enough by just having all of your melee prepot an arcane protection potion, and either resto pot on pull or use another arcane prot pot when they drop low. On Rag only the tanks need Fire Res unless you're in a shit guild with awful healers. The only time in the game that warrants any resistance sets is if you're melee on huhu or if you're doing sapphiron (and a few pieces of FrR on KT). I'm thinking your guild dps is incredibly shit and you're just making it worse by expecting everyone to bring fucking resist gear for MC/BWL.

I didnt say we were having people use resist sets, just that most players havent bothered to get them. Resist shit is important, especially for people with shit gear. That seems to be a majority of the playerbase these days since no one understands their stats for some reason. My guild has MC on farm and hasnt had to use fr gear on dps or healers in a while. When BWL hit it was a godsend on vael. We're done with both raids, and thats because we came prepared.
It didn't die, it just lives in it's own bubble. It's still fucking huge, you just don't hear about it because hype died down.

Literally nothing. Not only was it one of the most successful MMO launches ever, its still massively alive.
The feature that stands out the most about Classic is how social it is. It really hits when you get to your 30/40s and suddenly every zone you want to be in is contested, partying up is necessary, and doing the quests you want to do is a struggle against hard mods, tough aggro mechanics and PvP. I never played a Warrior in vanilla but ill never forget leveling one in Classic and doing the quests with other warriors for my windfury, struggling against endless undead ganks and scarce mob pulls, it was fun as fuck.
I think what made it slightly worse than original launch was the PvP focus by Horde players. They were far more efficient and brutal, and every server i've seen got shattered by Horde obliterating Alliance, with few exceptions.
As a guild master of an active guild the only thing that really kills the game is someone becoming a parent.
They all want to play the game, they try to clock in time to do things with the guild, raid pvp etc, but sometimes their life just becomes hard and they can't.
That really is the only thing, there is no big critical thought to be had, mine and 2 other guilds are chill boomers theres only 2 tryhard guilds on the server and were on the third biggest eu server with 50/50 split.
