Why is it dying?

The characters are boring and the gameplay is tedious to learn.

>Too different from the game everyone fell in love with back in 2012
So old players are quitting/aren't coming back.
>Still too difficult and knowledge-heavy for casuals
So 9/10 new players are choosing LoL instead.

It's a shame that the game has strayed so far from 2014 Dota 2, aka peak Dota.

>The characters are boring
t. weeaboo

it's not

As shocking as this might be for you, but games don't remain popular forever.

by and large nobody understands the current meta
but it's playercount is far from 'death'
not every game is as simple as fortnite or league

but the game isn't even hard to understand.
pic related.

Go play with your 20 orcs and your 30 humanoid monsters with glowing eyes, Yuri.

Too hard for zoomers.
Too much to learn.

Because it's an old multiplayer game.
Every other MOBA is dying as well.
Riot's numbers aren't reliable so I would take anything they say about LoL with a grain of salt.

All my work colleagues played/have played league
Not a single one has played Dota

>a game needs constant major updates to stay relevant
Was there any other game design belief that was so wrong? See: Dota 2 vs CS:GO

>invite friends to play dota2
>2 of us already knew the game
>have to teach our friends at least 400 games of BASIC stuff
>another 400 games to get them to decent mechanic/item usage
>at 1k games they might understand what each hero does and roles
>they are still max 2.5k mmr
>people quit because teammates are shit

yeah this game is too hard for the normies

7.00 killed it
New heroes are dogshit both visually and gameplay wise
Playerbase is filled with pinoys, russians and spics
Games take too long and have avery low chance of beingfun
Social score system is retarded
It's was never good to begin with

its not wrong, dota would have been dead in ages if not for updates, essentially people want updates, its that the updates went in the wrong direction around 7.00 patch which are mostly fixed by now.

Impossible to be "good".
Matchmaking has no way of telling a good player from a bad player. So everyone matches with everyone and it results in the worst team chemistry in gaming.

>>have to teach our friends at least 400 games of BASIC stuff
Are you friends mentally challenged?

t. 2k mmr

>no focus on bringing in new players
>tutorials and onboarding is hilariously shit
>no attempt to improve the community, making it a nightmare to play for everyone involved
>matches take forever compared to other multiplayer games and when combined with the community can turn into torture chambers (and you get punished if you leave)

>>a game needs constant major updates to stay relevant
This is literally the Fortnite approach.

its one of the best games ever made. IT never gets old or boring, i always keep coming back. so good.

4 something k before i dropped that shitty game which improved my life tenfold
I thank icefraud for ruining the game and releasing me from that hell

it's not fun unless you play with friends, and those friends also have to be at your skill level or the matchmaking is a shitshow

It's not attracting new players, zoomers dont care for the moba genre unless its league

also the playerbase falls into the cycle of beg for new patch>patch is released>this patch is awful

>It's not attracting new players, zoomers dont care for the moba genre unless its league
That's because League is a better game desu

how old are they? what about warcraft 3?

its not better, its better advertised and more accesible.

Why doesnt valve care about player sorting/improvement?

No one seems to be enjoying playing the game with other players.

Like between 21 to 35

Because its garbage

>Why doesnt valve care about player sorting/improvement?
Because they have always been lazy and very hands off when it comes to the community.
It took a shitstorm for them to even start writing blogposts for when content would be coming, what they're working on, etc. Basic communication.

This even applies to Steam's atrociously shit customer service as well.

>new player experience somehow literally worse than garena
>game way too different thanks to the 7.00 changes
>most players subhuman russians/turks/chinamen/SEAmonkeys/peruvians

gee i wonder

valve hired a bunch of california cucks that just sat on reddit implementing whatever they upvoted into the game. now the game is totally ruined.

Because people have played it to death.

They started expermenting this year at least for ranked its overall better but its been up and down

people are realizing MOBAs are shitty games where you're chained to 4 other retards for an hour until the other team of retards throws or your team throws

>valve hired a bunch of california cucks that just sat on reddit implementing whatever they upvoted into the game. now the game is totally ruined.

I find it funny how Valve even implemented some joke suggestions I threw up on reddit years ago since I knew they listened to reddit.

Pretty much this. I called icefrog a fucking retard for just constantly changing the game for absolutely no fucking reason and people defended it BECUASE IT NEEDED CHANGE BRO

No faggot the map literally doesn't need to be changed every 5 fucking months with some retarded gimmick shit thrown into it like shrines. I realized hes removed that now but now we get le epic observatories or whatever the fuck and side shop is still gone

Since its inception it was never really fun. Wins feel somewhat good and losses feel like the worst online experiences you can have.
People saying
>it was x patch
just want to find an excuse for finally ditching it

strange, i'm 24 and my peers play dota and league at a 1:2/3 ratio or so, with many having played both games at some point

It was literally x patch though lol. Pretty much everyone agrees it took a turn for the worst when he started implementing shrines and shit

ya the game was much better when it was 3 people getting ass raped around the clock while 1 played pve and another ran around killing the enemy teams 3 rape candidates

>zoomers dont care for the moba genre unless its league
look at this pathetic cope lmao

constant power creep made it less and less fun over time

>Pretty much everyone
So d2g shitposters and 3 guys on reddit?
Also the game is much more than shrines and bounty runes
Pro players just adapted and loved it

Why did they change the courier system I liked the passive agressiviness that came when two people wanted it at the same time and kept spamming the button while the poor thing was stuck

>try to play some games
>its me and 9 russians who don't speak a single word of english
yeah fuck that

I cant agree entirely.
They have created trenches in ranked and Ive slid into one.

>10k behavior score
>5k games
>climbed from archon to divine
>prime

However my games do not reflect those traits. Match quality is worse than what id expect at half those stats.
Less than half my games are fair. I need to win every single fair game to have a barely 50% winrate. Theres no way I can possibly win enough games in a row to escape this perpetual hell.

>So d2g shitposters and 3 guys on reddit?
No retard half of the playerbase who left this shitty game
Doturd 2 is dying for a reason

Cause 90% of their playerbase is russians

Attached: 1561221210782.jpg (550x512, 31.42K)

shit design philosophy plaguing the game for years, and it has reached the point where it's just not fun. matches feel the same, heroes play like lol chimps, strategic elements removed in favor of lootbox rng drops

10k behavior score doenst mean anything, it had meaning for like a month or two until people started boosting it now, 10k is just now average and 8k is subhumans with anger issues who will run down mid at even a hint of aggression, at least thats my experience in NA

As for climbing I feel its mostly the same, except I notice more people from out of the region if I play at odd times

because it has a cult following of old valve fans that was slowly declining in numbers, the devs are trying hard to make the game simpler and make it accesable to new players, but sadly this makes the old players upset for making it too different from their original concept, and new players wont come because moba in general is starting lose audience, not to mention most players tell other to stay the fuck away from dota because its not worth it

Attached: 1532155402725.jpg (1350x450, 77.67K)

Because automated matchmaking in Dota has the same problems it has everywhere else.

Attached: then and now - Multiplayer.jpg (880x1000, 180.2K)

you are a textbook case of what I was referring to my original post

correct.

and anyone who thinks this guy is wrong is sub 1k.

why are smurfs even forced to play these 100 games to be able to play ranked? They just want to climb, allow them to do that from the start. It would allow babies to play with other babies and not be stomped all the time

this, they just keep casualising it in the hopes of bringing in new players but all it does is make the old players quit because casuals will just play league

>Valve even implemented some joke suggestions I threw up on reddit years ago
like what?

dota2.com/700/
dota2.com/706/
dota2.com/720/
dota2.com/patches/7.22
and
dota2.com/patches/7.23
these were most of the big ones

im still mad about comeback mechanic

I don't want to skim through it all, which one was the very first patch that started the memeback gold and xp shit? That was the beginning of the end, 7.00 was the nail in the coffin when it became clear they had no intention of fixing the game.

which one?

memeback is gone, we're back to win lanes win game deathball

whenever it first got added
that was the first time i noticed that they are slowly ruining the game

6.84
its all been downhill

Attached: 1570562924717.jpg (638x553, 58.89K)

No it isn't there's still memeback mechanics in the game, people just were forced to change how they play to adapt to it so now instead of the team being ahead making risky plays to further their advantage they robotically lock down the map until the advantage is big enough to be insurmountable.
