The characters are boring and the gameplay is tedious to learn.

As shocking as this might be for you, but games don't remain popular forever.
by and large nobody understands the current meta
but it's playercount is far from 'death'
not every game is as simple as fortnite or league
but the game isn't even hard to understand.
