Head of Larian St Petersburg talks about BG3 looking like DOS2

What do we think? (see 2nd post)

>more realistic
KEK

yeah those anime-like spell effects sure are realistic

>more realistic and darker than in OS2

could've fooled me

>more realistic
Realism is biggest meme in wRPG games. Nothing kills creativity like this.

There's honestly nothing wrong with BG3 getting carried by the DOS2 aesthetic and gameplay systems. The only people who care about Baldur's Gate now are late 30s early 40s and just hate change.

This board is insufferable.

> What we showed during the demonstration is only a small part of the game, and even in the locations already studied, we missed a lot. Say, if you have a low perception parameter (each character can check the perception once, which saves if the other character has a failure, - ed.), You can skip not just some hidden treasure, but whole dungeons! One of these, for example, is located in a local "peaceful" camp - you will need to work hard to find it. Here we are guided by the ideas embodied in D & D itself - you are unlikely to be able to find everything that is in the module in one session.
not again.

>hardcore old Baldur's Gate fans
Yeah thanks for fucking us in the ass and thinking we'll suck your dick.

for pointint out that this piece of shit is just a lazy, corner cutting DOS2 reskin?
Larian studios should be ashamed of themselves

>two BG3 threads up
>nah we need another

>gay vampires and funny quips
so dark and realistic

You're right. It needs more miniature giant space hamsters and turnip-obsessed gnomes.

this and only this. when d&d stops following dumb rules, then it will be good.

>no day/night cycle
>there will be 4 maps, 1 for each chapter
>5 party members
fuck this game

No, it needs giant space gnomes and turnip-obsessed hamsters

Whats wrong with re-using an engine that actually works and make for fun combat? Especially if they manage to translate it faithfully to 5e rules

By your logic all the infinity engine games past BG1 were lazy cornercutting reskins

congratulations, you entirely missed the point. on purpose?

No actually I'm right and you are full of shit

there is nothing more insufferable than BG boomers throwing their tantrum about this

literally nothing more pathetic

>Looks nothing like a BG game
>Feels nothing like a BG game
>Plays nothing like a BG game
>But it's definitely a BG game!

If they'd just made a DnD 5e game no-one would have complained. It's only because they're trying to whore out the BG game for attention/money that people have a problem.

BG boomers love what they've shown so far. It's kids that are trying to fit and pretend to be an """oldfag""" that are mad. Totally oblivious to where Black Hound would take the series and how actual d&d works.

Duh. As if it wasn't obvious. Back to waiting for it come out

Ok zoomer

I'm a BG boomer (played those games as a kid a lot) and I think Larian is the best candidate for this job

the real baldur's gate 3

>B-B-BUT IT PLAYS NOTHING LIKE BALDUR'S GATE SO YOU CANT CALL IT BALDUR'S GATE 3 REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Attached: baldur-s-gate-dark-alliance-playstation-2-full-cover.jpg (800x537, 95.71K)

literally seething just for the sake of it, lmao

This, they either don't know what a hardcore fan is or this is just another one of their trolling.
>Pssst, kid, wanna invest 500g on the REAL successor of Baldur's Gate?

Attached: Willy_(D2_FoV_character).png (1000x768, 1.77M)

you aren't fooling anyone, zoomer.

Oh lord, this game just keeps getting shittier and shittier.

>It's only because they're trying to whore out the BG game for attention/money that people have a problem.
Why it is the problem? People are forced to buy game? People are forced to change their minds about previous games because new coming out? I'm sincerely doesn't understand that complaint, explain.

Torment was actually the first infinity engine game I got after lending BG1 from a friend. Most of the story went completely over my head and I was disappointed you couldn't wear cool armors like in BG1, that might give you an idea of my age at the time

Still think Larian doing BG3 is preferrable to someone like beamdog, obsidian or (lol) bioware

These retards don't care, they were told time and time again the game is in alpha, but sperg out like it's finished. They just want to be outraged because it isn't RTWP.

>Still think Larian doing BG3 is preferrable to someone like beamdog, obsidian or (lol) bioware
If I have to choose between being shot in the head, drowned, stoned or burnt alive I would also think being shot in the head is preferrable. Although I wouldn't say it as a relief or as if I actually want to die, I didn't ask for it.

By the way, I would also add OwlCat to the list of companies that'd be worse than Larian or this. Yet, it's still a bad thing.

They're outraged also because it will have less starting content than the game before it, like Diablo 4.

They should have given the rights to Owlcat

How do you know that?

He's a mind flayer.

I don't get what's so great about Original Sin. The elemental interaction gimmick wears off after a few encounters and the rest is fine i guess.

Larian's best is still Ego Draconis and even that is good not excellent.

But Swen is a cool guy.

The thing that made baldurs gate so good was that it didnt try to take itself too seriously.
It was a generic adventure and they knew it and ran with it.
This one seems like it will be 'muh realistc' tripe all over again.
Thats disregarding the possible and not too subtle agenda pushing they will probably insert.

Are we labeling esl in this thread as Larian devs? Still looking forward to the game btw.

>game has no cute girls
>only romance options are a gay vamp, a black dude and a trans lizard

What did they mean by this?

Attached: 345.png (808x571, 877.56K)

Look at this dramatic retard.
>YOU DONT UNDERSTAND! THIS IS A REASONABLE COMPARISON.
Retard, if you think Larian's attempt at BG is equivalent to someone shooting you in the head then [spoilers]please elaborate.[/spoiler]

>It was a generic adventure
I haven't played anything like it since then. I don't know if it was the delivery, the localizations or the voice overs that struck me so hard, but I truly felt like I was in the middle of something epic. That hasn't been the case in any other cRPG I played, they felt more like a puzzle to solve or just walking around waiting to get stronger.

Sure, it had lots of tropes and archetypical characters, but it still stands out from the crowd. Obviously, this is just my opinion, I know a lot of people think BG is mediocre and it's all nostalgia.

It means romance is for faggots.

Larian writing might have problems with tone but at least its not complete engrish like kingmaker

Kingmaker also has shit overall gameplay

>doesnt know about the disgusting gnome loli who is also very right-wing political.
>she is bald
>exists to be the butt of jokes
>but doesnt really exist

You don't know how to talk like a normal person, you moronic piece of shit? Go have a conversation with your parents until you learn how to stop being an edgy 12yo.
Take a book and learn about hyperboles while you are at it, stupid kid.

>faggot who talks about choosing between being shot in the head, drowned, stoned or burnt alive tells others to stop being edgy 12yo.

Owlcat belongs to paizo now. It's just pathfinder adventures from here on out.

It was kinda generic, but it was executed well and instead of trying to be diffrent or subverting expectations it played its strengths.

>yeah those anime-like spell effects sure are realistic
>spell effects
>realistic
DIY a rope user.

Learn to read, and listen.

Isn't pathfinder pretty much dead though? The second edition failed to gain any traction

>Isn't pathfinder pretty much dead though?
Stupid question. Do people not continue playing the 1st edition?

Its clearly dying but whatever

Yeah, I the idea they should be going for is 'tone' not realism. What is the tone of this setting, does it compliment the story we are trying to tell and do our characters accurately reflect this. A joyful game and a melancholy game can both be equally absurd.

Ego Draconis was kino and none of you can dispute that fact.

BASED. We were on the right side again larianbros. We cant stop winning

This. Kingmaker was fucking fantastic, and easily the best BG game I've played since BG2.

Fucking idiots shitting up Yas Forums with vapid discussions of retarded "dis is divos3 not bg REEEE" even tho BG gameplay is absolute dogshit and the definition of not fun or challenging. Fucking PoE is more fun&challenging than BG, gameplay-wise.

The only thing I'd understand being apprehended about is the POZ being inserted everywhere. You can't run from it anymore in any game. VGs are for faggots now.

Divinity has terrible writing and gameplay. What makes anybody think this studio is capable of quality? You can already see red flags in the marketing for this game.
>First trailer is completely CGI no gameplay or in-game clips
>Writers already flaunting that even the romance is politicized
>Comparisons to Divinity of Shit 2 left and right
>All of the marketing is hinged on "hey remember that one 20 year old game? yup it's another dead series reboot"

Attached: 1583487268226.jpg (2540x3684, 1.89M)

Pretty much this, BG and IWD series were my favorites back in time. Combat system was shit, and I enjoyed ToEE combat more when I tried it.
