That’s probably somewhat true. I do want to not remain ignorant, though. Maybe it’s pointless, but it’s frustrating to be unaware. I probably could do some digging myself, but just wanted so reccs for jumping off points and maybe some help? Thank you for the advice, though.

It’s not pointless but there is no quick and easy fix to your problem. You have already taken the hardest step that many people exactly like you never take: admitting the problem even exists. Introspection is hard but you’ve already started doing it. Therapy, essentially, is just paying another introspective person to do the introspection for you and then teach you how to do it yourself. This can be useful when starting out but eventually you will be introspective enough to not need therapy to figure things out. Always remember that you are on a journey that only ends when you end. Read as much as possible. Read things that seem to conflict with what you think/know to be true just to gain perspective on the other side. You don’t have to give up your enjoyment of media, you just need to change your perspective ON it. Study the things you enjoy. Engage with them on a deeper level. Do some amateur work in mediums you enjoy to further develop your understanding and appreciation for them. No matter what political structure is in place you are only as limited as you allow yourself to be.
