Japan had slight to liberate and uplift the people of Asia like they had for Korea, bringing it up from African standards to modern 20th century standards. If Manchukuo for example has been given the chance to expand economically as Korea did it would be larger than any european economy, Korea if united would be behind only Germany, Britain and France and Japan of course right now is the third largest economy.
Under Japan Asia would have outpaced Europe and this is why the USSR and USA did everything it could to prevent Japan from liberating and uplifting the Asian people.
Japan recognized the independence of the Philippine Republic as far back as 1900 which America rejected, and even recognized the independence of Vietnam and Indonesia.

Today, Japan has the third highest GDP in the world, second largest developed economy, third largest stock exchange, fourth largest importer and exporter, world second largest foreign reserves valued at $1.3 trillion, third largest consumer market, third largest motor manufacturing, worlds largest electronics industry, ranked the most innovative country, worlds largest creditor nation.
All this despite the fact that the capital was firebombed into oblivion, the major manufacturing centres nuked off the map, being ranked the 29th country with ease of doing business, being ranked the least work productive nation of the entire G7 and receiving the least amount of foreign investment of any nation in the G20, Japan with very little foreign investment and working at a much less productive rate than the western world somehow still outpaces the entire west.
This tiny island nation with no resources isn’t even trying in comparison to the west.
If the war hadn’t occurred and Japan had been allowed to develop Manchukuo, Korea and Taiwan further Japan would today be the sole super power. In fact, before the recession hit Japan it was on track to outpacing the US and this struck fear into the American people who doubled down on their Anti Japanese propaganda. It didn’t work.

Yes, the IJA and IJN must be restored to allow peace and stability in Asia, Japan must be allowed to build a nuclear arsenal as a counter balance against China. The problem is the US does not want that because then the world would rather ally with Japan because they support Japan more than the US.
