Theory: Resources become more abundant. If resources are more abundant then we are allowed to make more mistakes and not be burdened by them. AS well it might actually be necessary to be making these changes because the system has changed due to the resource allocation and these lefty ideas become plausible ways of dealing with new problems within the resource-abundant system.
