I lived up there on and off for work. If you like outdoor activities it's the best state in the US but if you're used to city life then it will probably be boring for you. Housing can be expensive in towns like southeast Alaska or Kodiak and groceries are pretty expensive. Also my advice is to avoid moving to small towns if you're still single because you can pretty much kiss your love life goodbye. I've worked in pretty remote locations with groups of single men and they turn into massive coomers whenever they go into town. There were also a few single girls but they were most likely full of STDs and the guys there took turns fucking them. They're were pretty much worksite whores that didn't cost a dime.

I see all those American balkanization threads but no one really talks about Alaska. Can't see them wanting to join some commie west coast republic or Canada but don't think they could stand as a sovereign sate either. Wonder what would happen with them.

The nates are pretty self contained, I’ve worked in remote areas (Alaskans call it the bush) and yeah it’s incredible witnessing the heritage and culture of the Native Alaskans. They rape kids, drink hand sanitizer, they rape sisters, brothers, sell their prized ivory carvings for a bottle of jack. Will attack you if they think you’re hiding booze from them at a party. Also rapes. Like a lot of domestic violence and rape. But hey, it’s the white mans fault amirite?
Other towns have their own issues but it’s a pretty small demographic that causes the majority of the problems....

What's Anchorage like as a city? My career might take me there eventually but I need to be near a big enough metro area due to a heart condition. Everyone makes it sound like a shitheap but I can't seriously see it being worse than places down here.
