That's the point you dumb fucker. The book is amazing. The scene where Grushenka pretends to befriend and then utterly mindfucks Katerina Ivanova is one of the best depictions of the female nature in all of human culture.
It's meant to be a comedy novella, it shouldn't take you long enough reading the thing to even get bored.
