I live in a 80%+ white area. Everyone here owns guns and our gun crime is non-existent. I know that correlation is not causation, but it's something that I wanted to bring up.

AKs are great weapons. The stamped AKM might be more on the garbage side but even those can be pretty good. There's no doubt that a SAM7SF from arsenal will compete with any AR. Although 5.56 is better for armor piercing. You could get an AK in 5.45 (AK-74) and you'd have the same capability but with AK action.
