Firstly, assuming that IQ is a valid measure of intelligence (whatever that is), why is an IQ gap between different ethnic groups or whatever so special or important? Why is the fact that asians have high IQs more special than the fact that whites have a higher average height than some other races? Why is there so much value being placed in the type of intelligence that IQ scores measure? What is making this IQ intelligence more significant than other traits people have? Why has there so much study and research on IQ, but very little for some type of measurement score for personality or physical health? Why do people brag about IQ scores but nobody brags about some hypothetical Physical quotient that measures how physically healthy and strong and athletic and agile a person is? Why is there controversy about the racial breakdowns of Noble Prize winners but none for the racial breakdown of Olympic gold medalists or professional athletes? Why is the worth of people or groups being determined by what they score on a mental test and little else?
This whole IQ thing seems to be pseudo-intellectuals from their ivory towers determining the worth of others with the ones deemed inferior not being allowed to determine what's best for them because their brains aren't big enough or whatever. Yes, nobody in the world brags about their height, or their physical strength or the ability to excel at a sport.
Anyway, you being retarded aside, scientists take interest in IQ because it is highly predictive for things like educational attainment, income, criminality, etc. Finding ways to raise societal IQ is extremely important if you want to have a productive, modern society. Unfortunately, IQ is almost entirely genetic, and things like socioeconomic status or quality of education don't affect it positively or negatively.

Markets determine value. What anything is "worth" is what the highest bidder/lowest seller is willing to pay/sell it for. IQ and other psychometrics are useful as an alternate explanation to "racism" and "discrimination" for income/life outcome disparities between different population groups.

Because Intelligence is a highly valued trait in technologically advanced societies, which is what most societies will end up looking like save for a bunch of third world countries in the next 100 years. Functioning in these societies requires higher intelligence because tasks (jobs) + social interactions are and will be increasingly cognitively demanding. Populations who are less intelligent than others will struggle even more as a result, and will make societies that host them worse societies than others.
