The government fucked us and now we demand compensation or violence will ensue.

A friend of my father has a clinic in Chicago , he filed for gov assistance and hey granted him 70,000$ to use to pay his employees the only catch is that he is not allowed to fire them

Is the check your getting similar or smaller than your pay check in the past?

Do you have paperwork to show your officially fired? Or was it word of mouth?

He could be doing something shady and receiving government paycheck and pocketing a percent

Hope that helps user

That money was marked for corporations. You need to stop being selfish consumer.

Right, but businesses will have to replenish those coffers, perhaps at a higher rate per new hire depending on hour much they've loaned from the federal cache.

>he filed for gov assistance and hey granted him 70,000$ to use to pay his employees the only catch is that he is not allowed to fire them
>gov tells me im eligible for $600 stimulus
>works a deal to give the money to my company instead
I'm getting my money one way or the other.

Same here. Applied for both SBA programs, haven't heard a peep. Applied for unemployment because supposedly there was going to be something for us, but so far that just seems made up.

Tennessee

Either they are giving you severance pay and you didnt read the paperwork or.... they are keeping you on the payroll and paying you so they can qualify for a bigger federal loan.

If your boss is that awful, actually resign and collect unemployment. Or sue for bad employment practices depending on your state. Again, the issue is whether or not you're still employed and whether or not you're being paid due to error. Get the written responses and send them to the unemployment office.

Being "shut down" due to covid is different from being laid off. If the business is "shut down" but still paying you, you're not unemployed and you're getting paid, so you don't need unemployment. It's that simple. And when you were "laid off indefinitely" you should have gotten a letter or email stating the exact nature of your employment status. "Furloughed" is not "laid off", and laid off indefinitely doesn't make sense anyway. You're either laid off or not. I'm starting to think you just misunderstood your current employment status.

Again, as long as you're getting paid and it's not in error, YOU HAVE INCOME. It doesn't matter if it's through unemployment or wages from your employer. Calm down.
