As an employer of a medium sized business I sent an interview candidate home because he did not bother to wear a tie to the interview and I stated I did not want such individuals to represent my company. I got a cheeky email from the candidate later mentioning I did not specify the formal wear and that it was cruel. Was I in the wrong?
As an employer of a medium sized business I sent an interview candidate home because he did not bother to wear a tie to...
you're an idiot if you didn't hire the best employee simply because their fashion sense is different than yours. your loss. probably better for them not to work for such a dumnbass. hope your new employee has a nice tie.
what use is a fucking tie?, it's a literal noose round your neck.
prick move by him, but a prickier move by you, you should have heard him out
Why did you expect a specific type of attire if you didn't not specify before the interview?
>Not hiring on merit
seems kind of jewish to me
You are obviously not hiring anyone with technical acumen if you require a tie. Or you are retarded.
Yes please show up in just a shirt and blazer, why not without a belt too.
Fucking idiot.
...and this is why baby boomers are not very popular among young people
You were wrong to give him the courtesy of telling him why he got rejected. You should have just gone through the interview normally, told him you'd be in touch, and then left him hanging.
>asks if he's in the wrong
>gets defensive
I wouldn't want to work with you either.
If he is the best candidate and does not represent you in front of customers, what difference does it make?
People who dont wear them propably would not enjoy working for such a petty person any way
Holy shit that candidate lucked out. If he had worn a tie he might’ve gotten stuck working for a shitty fucker like you
You're not giving enough info to tell.
So in my country the way thing's work is there's a tacit understanding of such things depending on the industry the job is you're applying for.
For example, say I'm applying for a position on the blades (fork-lift driver) or in construction like a chippy (carpenter) or sparks (electrician) then the accepted attire would be smart casual (brand new Nike or addidas runners is included as acceptable footwear) as such jobs the interview is really just a vetting to see if you'll be allowed on the job for a week to demonstrate your actual experience, the first week work is the actual real interview.
Now, say you're applying for a position in an insurance company, bank or administration in any other large company/corporation then the attire would be professional, as in suit & tie + expensive leather shoes.
This is the most boomer jew thing I've read. Dunno if you're trolling or not, but good job in making me feel nauseous.
You did nothing wrong. People should assume formal wear is a requirement unless otherwise specified.
Haha totally this. What are you some kind of fucking newb? You should be fired for having no managerial intelligence and that person should be given your job.
It shouldn't be your task to do the job his/her parents failed at.
You always fucking wear a formal outfit to a job interview.
>day old pizza left on the table
>tv remote lying on the ground
>some other shit lying on the ground
what a complete slob
You'd be lucky if I don't wear sweatpants everyday you fucking loser. Actually got fired from a job for wearing sweatpants and got a sick court settlement when I sued. Haven't worked in a year.
Ties are evil. They're literally leashes. Anyone wearing one is cattle, chipped, branded, and leashed. Trump should do a presser with no tie on.
This. Only skill-less positions can afford to be so picky with their hires. In STEM, companies need you so badly they won't be making up reasons not to hire you. Also, probably 90% of your coworkers will be massive dorks with awful fashion and people skills and you'd never hire anyone competent if you hired on vanity alone.
And this is why you faggots can't keep a fucking job for a year straight.
kek that candidate was lucky
No, fuck that cheeky bastard. May he toil in poverty for being a butthurt faggot
I mean sure, if you want to live in the 90's that is your decision. HOWEVER; you should not be able to get bailouts for your poor hiring decisions. There is zero reason my tax dollars should go to prop up your amateur managed business.
If the person was cleanly dressed but just didn't meet a certain dress code you have in your mind, then you should try telling people the dress requirements...not everyone is a fucking physic
Are you a woman?
What is the job in this scenario, larper?
I showed up to my place of employment out of state with the look of defeat, been sleeping in my car for a week with the tires slashed, and the boss asked if I needed a place to stay and a job. That was 10 years ago and now I'm the boss. There was a firm handshake in there too btw
The test is whether the candidate bothers to find out sufficient information about the company to know what the culture is, which would inform them on how to dress. Alternatively, the prospect could simply ASK what would be appropriate like an adult.
I don't understand why people hate ties now. Ties are awesome. I wear one every work day, and have since I was 20. I don't get why faggots can't into neckties anymore
depends, if he was applying for a tech job it was a waste of both of your time because it would be considered overdressed by todays standards
And this is why your generation will never own a home or achieve career fulfillment
>ITT: retarded whiney zoomers that can’t dress themselves
Showing up to an interview with an untucked wrinkly dress shirt and skinny jeans is big dumb. No wonder you faggots are unemployed sitting in this weeb forum all day long complaining about muh landlords and niggers. Kys
>Boomer mentality
He dodged a bullet imo
>Nipples protruding. Very disrespectful.
The only thing you did wrong was come here looking for validation for a pissing match you started.
I don't even own a tie. fuck you bitch
I'm a robotics engineer and I literally wear t-shirts and jeans every day unless I'm working with a customer because it has zero impact on my ability to work.
>told him you'd be in touch, and then left him hanging.
This formality is gay as fuck. Literal onions tactics to just not have to say "no, you suck, now gtfo"
He should have emulated the attire of the people that work there. If employees aren’t expected to wear ties, then you’re being stupid. You may be stupid anyway idk
Trips of truth. You faggots are making boomers look like an ok generation
Hi, I'm here for the job interview
LARPing goofball on Yas Forums on Monday afternoon. Offices are doing virtual interviews anyway with corona, unless you manage a grocery store.
Hang yourself with a rope instead then poorfag
your company sucks and so does the product and service it delivers. I hope you go out of business faggot.
>Not hiring people purely on the firmness of their handshake
You company deserved to be outsourced to pajeets
This. I haven't worn a tie since the 90s. If you have actual relevant job skills you don't have to impress retards with your fashion sense.
You will really only find technically gifted people if you require at most a button down and slacks (business casual). There is a deep distrust of suits, the people who wear them, and the people who think they are important, by technically gifted people. (They have way to much knowledge of how empty suits such as yourself behave, and how little actual knowledge those empty suits have posses)
