I have a total of 12 radios (not including my SDRs) and 8 of them are cheap HTs like yours all programmed with our state's repeater frequencies and a few simplex frequencies. They sit in a 'go bag' for emergencies and rural SAR response. Keep the cheap ones around when you upgrade.
