It's only an extra 600 for those that were already making it. The maximum was $275 per week, because the government doesn't want you on unemployment in the first place. Right now, you aren't expected to find work and don't have to even apply for jobs. The government is being consistent with itself here: don't get infected, don't go outside and don't find work. $275 isn't enough and that's the point, it isn't supposed to be. This is a completely different scenario where the government risks getting smashed by all the people they just made borderline destitute- so the gibs are flowing. You can argue it's right or wrong but practically speaking, the government is operating under the guise of protecting(controlling) the people.

They only get the extra money if they were already making it, up to the maximum. A person making 400 per week is going to get 400 in unemployment, it only goes up by 600 for people earning that much pre-unemployment. In florida you'd have to be earning close to 900/week to get the maximum(275+600).
