Rent
Out of the ten renters I have, I reduced the rent of one dumb bitch ten percent, no one else is having problems yet, they're all upper middleclass white people. This lady is a single 50 year old divorcee.
I use these houses as a store of value, and when I buy a new one I have about $100,000 (down payment and improvements) into it before renting it out. The renters don't have to come up with a large amount of cash like that and are able to live in the houses by paying more per month than they'd pay if they had a mortgage. It's a fair tradeoff.
> How about you charge me $1 for that candy bar and make a nice profit while not gouging me for the extra dollar? You win, I win, what's the problem? I'm not suggesting you shouldn't make a profit. You should. But do you have to gouge?
user if there is a profit margin high enough to be gouging then there is likely someone else selling another product for less because they will ultimately make more money and get more business. Then this forced the people gouging to lower their prices as well. If there is no alternative in a market and you figured it out first, congrats you’ve found a niche that you can compete in and make money while providing a cheaper product for the consumer and solving the problem.
yes
woodstock.. i was not there.. but watched on tv. I remember the session.. young 70s women offereing sex.. weed everywhere. haha good times. Must suck to be incel poor and young.
>If taking slightly less rent still keeps a landlord solvent and making a profit, the only purpose of asking more is simply avarice.
>property renters should not be able to make profit because muh feelings
This is what you are arguing.
That's nice and I understand user, but that is not what my thread is about.
How could you apply these thoughts to the concept of rent in actual real world conditions that we live in?
If the owner of a property has the only property available, that is the niche, they can make money using their limited resource, but then
>while providing a cheaper product
is the issue. They COULD provide a cheaper product while still maintaining a healthy profit but do not.
Are you functionally retarded user? Your quote of my post is literally saying
>making a profit
so
>should not be able to make a profit
is very literally not what I am suggesting.
They should definitely make a profit. The concern is HOW MUCH of a profit is enough or too much?
Please, profit, it is your right. Profit. But do not gouge. Avarice only hurts the people that you would profit from and reduces your ability to profit from them.
Trump gives em free money plus unemployment gibs so exactly why the fuck should the rent be reduced? Doesn't seem like renters are running out of money any time soon, now they have even less expenses, of course excluding those actually effected by the covid (infected or those who's family member got infected, etc).
I'm not a piece of shit, most of my tenants are fine, with two exceptions.
One is a guy who runs bars and stuff. His check bounced. I don't know how screwed he is, I like him, but I told him I think this is bad long term. I'm letting him think about how he wants to handle it, either find a way to pay me long term, or he can use that time to find somewhere cheaper to live and I cut the losses. That house is fucking me in taxes already.
The other would be the same way, but these two dykes pissed me off. Decided to start the conversation by complaining about some minor problem with a window in a shitty tone. They had 6 months, and decided not only wait for the worst possible time to complain, but had the gall to say it was 'unacceptable'. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them, I haven't responded yet, but I'm sure they are going to have issues since one works in retail. Was gonna be cool and understanding until they decided to come at me like that.
Rest are fine, one is a tranny who literally has the government paying her rent, and I actually get extra from that, another is a doc, the other is a Goldman Sachs Jew, and the last couple is just rich.
>If there is more money available from renters, I should take it all, because I am entitled to all of it.
You too are missing the point here user.
