What’s with San Antonio’s supply chain that we were out of eggs everywhere for so long? I had to get something from a storage unit in Austin a week ago, and their heb had eggs.

I work at a Kroger subsidiary store, and while we do have shortages of some items, there is still plenty of food. The produce section is always chock full, you can usually find some chicken breasts or hamburger meat, and you can still grab soup, milk, and some breads. Toilet paper and hand sanitizer is a no-go though.

NEW JERSEY: got 2 pounds of sirloin steak for 11.50 at a shoprite literally only isle sortof empty is the cleaning isle which isnt fucking food. no shortage.

PRO Tip: Go to the store during the last 3-4 hours that they are open. Ex: My local WalMart closes at 8:30pm. The ideal time to go is around 6:30-7p, after the truck arrives and stock is being put onto shelves for the next day.

I work for the largest retailer in the world. As of right now our supply chain is fine, our suppliers we're sitting on plenty of excess goods and they're being brought to market. The real threat is if workers in our supply chain start getting sick and it weakens or is shut down, that's the worst case scenario. But, I don't expect it. Instead we'll probably see shortages of certain products, a lag getting product to the shelves, localities potentially running out but overall the supply chain will be fine. You're free to eat yourself to death again, 'merica.

Over here in Sydney, for weeks, things have been constantly running out of stock. Suppliers refresh things daily, but everything from flour, to pasta, to toilet paper, bread, meats- all disappear within a few hours. Everything is under purchase limits now because it's insane.
No one wants to buy fresh produce that aren't packaged because people have been spitting or infecting fresh food.

What do you suggest? I’ve been to HEB, Albertsons, Whole Foods, smiths, Trader Joe’s, sprouts, costco, Walmart, and sams. HEB was the best overall.

I think it's more that people are buying anything with a shelf life longer than 2 weeks. You can always learn to bake or fry or grill if shit hits the fan, so it's better to have anything that can last you than constantly living day to day on perishable goods.

Probably depends on the area, snatch up shelf-stable goods like canned food and oats if you can find it, but buy fresh and eat fresh first.

Apples and Onions both last a long time. Cheese and yogurt unopened can make it past expiry date in your fridge.
Eggs can last for weeks in fridge as well

I work for a major grocer as a manager. Big problem we're having is that most of these companies have exhausted their safety nets/reserve supplies and are now allocating items to us. They're trying to get products to as many buyers as possible so we're competing with everyone else, and we are the second largest general retailer in the US behind Walmart. Then every store is ordering the same product, warehouses are backed up, not enough drivers (weren't enough in the beginning before this happened), then when product does come in we don't have manpower to adequately get to shelves.

We are expecting this to be a minimum 4-6mo "problem" even though it's very profitable for us. Just hard to continue running on fumes and even though we're "hiring", no one wants to work for us when we generally pay less than our major competitors, sometimes by several dollars an hour.

I work for your boss man, and we're not going to have sanitizer for a while. They are working on that solution but since it's an FDA item it's a clusterfuck of a process to get it done. We're currently getting in toilet paper; both white label and major brand. Water is still very much an issue but is starting to level out. Canned goods is where we will get fucked this year because a lot of those are on cycles (only made certain parts a year depending on harvest, plant, etc) so when those are gone, they're fucking gone until the next run is done. We're looking at certain sku's that we might not have again this year.
